I'd like to see the CL bantam mixes!
please post as they grow, so we can see size differences, etc
if not here, maybe in the CL hybrid thread?

@capayvalleychick here is a pig for you!
Curses the link is gone... let me try and repaste...
Aarg!!
Ill have to go to the real computer for it!

One of my dels has been having egg coloring problems apparenly. Sometimes I get mottled eggs other times I get near white eggs. We think we have narrowed it down to the 1 bird that seems to give us an array of patterns and colors. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is there something I should be giving (or not) her.

Also I have not been able to confirm my other Buff has started laying yet and she is approaching 30 weeks old. She has only now begun to really red up in her comb and wattles though.

I sure will!

Can anyone confirm or deny that the cream-legbars hens have enough barring to create sex-link with an un-barred roo?
I hatched a whole bunch of sex-linked chicks with my Pita Pinta rooster and Cream Legbar/Cream Legbar mix hens. The boys looked like barred rocks at hatch with a white head spot and developed barring while the girls were almost all black. The girls are now laying beautiful green eggs!

Anyone have advise on an interim feeder? The chick feeder is pretty much wholly inadequate already and in a week or two will be a complete joke. When they go to the coop/run, I'm planning on using a Grandpa's treadle feeder, but for the next 6 weeks or so, I need something to bridge the gap. I was thinking a couple of small gravity feeders might work (and then I could use them for grit and oyster shell in the run). Thoughts? Ideas?

I thought i had sex linked cl boy marans hens but 2 of my roosters are hens. I have to email the chick that got the girls today lol. Dont mind extra girls as long as all that were solid were girls!

i use either the ones at the feed store and put them on bricks (so they dont fill it with bedding) or once they are bigger a tupperware type container they hop into. Tall enough if they scratch they dont scratch it out but short enough to get in. Don't put it buy the heat or they will sleep in it

I'd love to see the pics!!! If you've already posted, just tell me where, or please post again

Did they have a lot of variety in the offspring or all tend to be similar?

They look very similar. Wild type as chicks and partridge looking as adults. The crests mostly have a little poof extra from their cl mum. 5 toes light blackish skin and insane broody as is there mum on her 4th clutch of the year. Eggs are large for a silkie 50% are blue 50% are silkie. No one is laying yet however. The smooth featherd ones are very very social and i had a waiting list for them at 1 point . Obviously the silkies and the smooths have 1 big difference. :)

Ill see if i can get a few pics.
