Does anyone in or fairly near the Sacramento area dub OEGB's? Looking to get one of my cockerels done for show. :)  Thanks.
Sorry, no help up here. I have been asked to raise them many times but the dubbing isn't something I would be comfortable doing and then the kids would have birds that were DQ'd the next year.

Does Jeff (papbrooder) know of anyone?

Recipe of the day: salt cured egg yolks!
Ok the recipe won't link... so google they look fricking amazing!

NIce looking hens!

Thanks! I love the way all 37 of my chickens look together. The color and pattern variety plus the movement make them like a living art piece.

Mr. and Mrs. Mini are parents! Both parents are a cross of OEGB and MGB.

What a nice mix of color in the flock! They appear happy & healthy!
Thanks LAChick! They should be happy and fingers are crossed that they remain healthy.

@ronott1 I will find the PP thread and post a pic or two of Daphne. I call her Daffy half the time she is the funniest little thing. I need to get her a couple of PP friends so that she will have "people" The Konza were bonded from day 1 and when I lost the PP cockerel poor little Daph became a lonely only. She is now cooped with a nice group though...maybe a friendship will form.

Daffy is very cute. It is nice to hear that she has been accepted by the flock.

Wow I'm so behind on this thread! Missed you all :) . Congrats on the new babies! @tommysgirl : cute pics of those little ones! @BCollie : so proud of your processing! Its hard to do, but it's good for your family.
I sold some pullets that didn't fit in with my projects. I got $40 each, so it's nice the demand is still up there for pol pullets.
One was even that EE that laid brown eggs!
Was going to keep her for the laying flock, but the people really wanted her.
And I'm trying to focus on the best birds.
Ducks are doing great! They chased the dog away from the garden hose, so I'll have to keep an eye on that.
one nice peck on the head did it.
No fighting is allowed here :)
Hope you all are doing well! Thanksgiving (aka: @chiqita 's birthday) are coming up soon!!

BTW....how do you all deal with soggy ground in your pens? Last year I was able to free range my flock in the back yard and just locked them up at night Since they competely destroyed all of the grass we had anc are now confined to a good sized pen, the ground has nothing to keep it from becoming a mud pit. All the little pockets they turned into dust bathes are now puddles and the whole place is pretty slippery when I have to walk in certain areas. The secure part of the pen stays pretty dry because is has a sloped polycarbonate panel roof over it. Is there something I can put on the ground theat will help keep it from being so muddy?

Quote: That PP looks like what I had hoped my Mottled AM 's would look like. I am so jealous! All of them ar very pretty!

Great pictures! The little one reminds me a LOT of my 4 1/2 year old Grandaughter, Sydney...

Sand works for me. It makes a big difference in the mud.
