California - Northern

If I have some birds that are good enough. My best Del pullets decided to molt. All the Dels have been wallowing in the mud. They actually dig down to get to it!
I'm going to go through the Dorks and see if I have something. I keep seeing possibilities, then I notice all the defects.
I think sometimes we are our own worst critics. A couple of my welsummer pullets decided to molt, so I'm hoping they are done in time.

Whether mine are good enough remains to be seen, I'm not showing to win - I want the input from the judges. I'm aware of certain issues in my flocks, but I'm sure there is something I'm not seeing. Both of my breeds are rare, so there aren't many of them shown.

Are any of you having wind problems today? We have had up to 60 mph gusts up here in Paradise today and 2 people were killed in town by falling trees (one in a car and another in a house). Just wondering how your chickens are coping with the winds.

Wind is gusty and the chickens dont seem to know where to go to get out of it. Let them out to run around the yard as I cleaned up stuff and they got blown around a bit. Not helping the molting situation :)

Would any one be interested in 4-month-old orpington cockerels? Black split to chocolate. I'm asking $5 each. I have 3 total.
They are Papa's Poultry / PapaBrooder / Jeff McCormick's stock. Big, heavy birds that are sweet & tame.
PM me if interested. I am in Fairfield (1/2 way between SF & Sac).
I will have a couple of hens available in a month or so too.

They look great! I've still got one more Orp cockerel of my own to rehome (at least, I'm 75% sure it's a cockerel; s/he's been my mystery bird).

The wind lifted the lid on a chicken hutch this morning. It got stuck in the netting but only one Arkansas blue got out. She went back in on her own though. The new peak shingles I put on last weekend are staying on.

Of course............I just went out to fill feeders and my welsummer cockerel that I want to show hooked the back of his comb on the fencing and is bleeding.

Hopefully he will heal okay.

Oh no!

Combs do heal quickly though.
