California - Northern

Hello again Spring Peeper and Hangtown Farms,
Having chickens off and on all my life has no relationship to my lack of computer acumen. I thank you and any and all for any tips. These blogs and their
operation have long been a mystery. You guys make me feel like Oog the caveman, would had such person stumbled upon this World of the Internet.
Frankly, in my technical ignorance I'm afraid to operate a button lest the machine blow up. A bit of an exaggeration but I do wonder about causing the loss
of data and correspondence by manipulating stuff about which I have no familiarity. Thanks all for your care and kind considerations. I'll keep at it as the only
way from here is up.
Sincerely,
Neal, the Zooman
I don't think anyone doubts your knowledge of chickens, we're just trying to make it easier to get answers from we whippersnappers.

So cute!!! Thank you for posting pics! That little yellow one has got some massive yellow legs on him! I'm guessing that my big Rhode Island Red rooster is his father!
I know! Those legs are the chunkiest I have seen on a chick and he had them pretty much from the get go. Wonder who his mama could be? He has great markings and is going to be a big pretty boy. I hope to get close ups this weekend of all of the chicks for sexing purposes. I know it is early but I like having a clue. My PP laid her first egg yesterday. She hatched on July 4th :)
I think I only have 4 pullets who haven't started laying.

Ooh ooh, whatcha gettin? I'm getting a couple of birds from @TheKeeper also and I'm so excited. One is a rescue.
Get a load of this guy

Fuzzy Man is ADORABLE!
I was smitten and asked for him when he was just a little guy. Been planning and plotting how to fit him in with my menagerie. He is getting a white bantam cochin girlfriend to hang with while he is being quarantined then he will be in a pen with My Grey Silkie. My Black Sizzle and My Little Silver Silkie/D'Uccle girl and a couple of other smooth cochin girls to be hatched later. I will have to move my sizzle girl when I start collecting eggs for hatching but for awhile they will be a happy little family

Lately though, I've been wondering about something. It probably sounds absurd, as she may have just injured something, but I would really like to know, or at least hear your thoughts on it. Judging by the fact that the killed hen did not have a head, and was completely untouched elsewhere, I thought raccoon. But is there some type of animal that injures their prey so that they can come back the next day, or a few days after and get an easy meal?

Probably not, just thought I'd ask.

I've heard hawks and owls. I found one once that the head was attached, but stripped clean, and a page I found said hawk or owl. It was daytime, so likely hawk we think.
(Can't find that page now, but found these, perhaps of some help?)

Love his coloring and that frizzle is out of this world. He his gonna make some beautiful chicks. Congrats!!!

Sounds great! "Fuzzy Man" is feeling his oats & started crowing. :0 But it is a low volume, short crow. And he's so gentleman-ly with all my ladies. I've even seen him break up a squabble between the big orps.

Hopefully he won't amp it up too much before monday.

@HighStreetCoop - you mean my "swiffer"? :)

You know, someone should work on a frizzled white orp.
Can you imagine it?

Ok, I'm not usually a fan of the frizzles but all I can say is
