There are many threads on this site on just about every subject that has to do with poultry and quite a bit more. It is also helpful at time to be able to contact those poultry lovers who live close by; to exchange eggs, go in on shipped chicks/egg orders or just chat about the local weather. But you are welcome here regardless of your location!

We would love to have you post here!

We do not care where you are from and we help with just about everything poultry on this thread.

Hope you all are weathering the storm well.
I put a small tarp over one of my smaller coops just to make sure it's water and wind proof.
Apparently everyone thought it was the devil because they are sitting out side in the howling wind.
I brought over a board to offer more wind protection, that also is seen as a scary monster.
And 3 broodies, 1 of which wasn't eating at all in in a broody breaker pen.
The others I don't have any storm proof pens to put them in for now.
I don't think there is an irritated emoticon on here, but there needs to be.
I have everything pretty well locked down but some of my silly chickens keep running out into the rain, pacing the runs and getting soaked

They are all mad at me since I took away their free ranging on Wednesday. I had let them have run of the property for the winter but I finished the bantam coop and so I was finally able to split off my bantams from my LF layers. 1 of my bantam roos stayed with the layers so I now have the 2 of them crowing back and forth to eachother across the yard - it's cute for now...

The rain will not hurt them. Mine stay out in it all day long and then go in to dry off at night.

Makes for muddy eggs though.....

Crazy chooks! My broody in her "suite" is the only one not having to deal with this weather! Hoping for pips tonight! Raining hard with pretty good gusts up here in Sonoma County right now. Got soaking wet checking on birds, then bailing out hubby when the truck's fuel pump went out in town. Just one of those days. Frustrated/irritated emoticons for me, too! :fl :barnie :he :idunno
Sounds like my hubby having something like a fuel pump issue, lol! When it rains it pours for sure! We need the rain but having to westher the storm is something else!
Nankin chickens are true bantams, very gentle, very friendly tiny birds with soulful big eyes. I believe they have originated in South East Asia. Two years ago, I hatched some which was a wonderful experience. When they hatch, their bodies are size of a cotton ball, with needle thin toes, very active chicks. I am posting some photos of the chicks my Orpington hen hatched. In the clutch there were Ko Shamo chicks as well, and they are a tiny breed as well. I was worried a bit about the hen stepping on the chicks, but, I trust Orpington hens who are very gentle with babies of all sizes. All the Nankin and Ko Shamo eggs came from Walt Leonard's birds. Oh, the dark chicks are the Nankins, the light colored ones are Ko Shamo, and in the photos they are about 10 days old. Lual
oh so cute and tempting!!

I feel so bad for them getting soaked , but as Ron said they'll survive. Just want to save them from this rain.

Me too. Even my husband went and put my roo back in his coop while I was at work but the silly boy was back out in the rain before I was home. They can dry off when they want so I'm not stressing.

during the rain storm is the best time to get bugs!

I got my first 8 egg day every one of my original 8 chickens laid today. Now if the 2 new ones would just start eating the feed and start laying again I could look forward to a 10 egg day.

And I have a people buying my extra eggs too so they are paying their feed bill. Today is a great day
The last 3 days of eggs
