Thank you for sharing this! My adult son left a large glass of milk out on the counter last night. I'm glad to see that it is okay to add it to my flock's morning mash!

I almost bought some super Buff goslings the other day, but decided to hold out looking for Pilgrims. I'm also STILL trying to get an aviary set up for pigeons. We were converting an old run when a lady from church got in trouble with neighbors and dumped a colony of rabbits on us while she works on her set-up. Hopefully that won't be very long at all.

Now you enablers just need to find me some Pita Pintas and RC RIWS

Yes, you need some Pita Pinta chicks! Look at how cute they are!

Is Jean-Luc behaving himself?  Is he doing his job?   Kern

He is behaving himself for the most part. We've has a couple of flock master reeducation sessions. He still likes to be picked up & snuggled. Not sure if he's doing his job yet. I haven't witnessed any consummation - I have 12 eggs in the incubator as a test hatch so we'll see...
I still love him to bits & pieces.

You do not always wee them at it. The very alert ones will not do anything but watch you until you leave.

I am talking about the Mediterranean breeds mostly. The Pita Pinta is a bit different though....

Interesting article indeed. Thank you

Compared to some of the garbage articles coming out of that magazine, that was not one of them. I've long seen the benefits of buttermilk, whey, sweet milk as an animal protein supplement. Fish and fish meal and the toxins that can often be found in them are not a preferred substitute to me, and too much can cause enteritis in a short period of time. Saccharides found in whey keep the lactobacillus numbers up. That is why good quality dispersible powder probiotics contain saccharides. Dechlorinated water sustains it better for the bird's intestinal flora. Some, like Dawe's brand, is formulated to be used in water containing chlorine, which most city water contains certain levels of.

Here are some pics of the premiere plate. I'll try to put the first pic of how to adjust the leg settings. You push in the yellow tab and slide the legs.no twisting involved. I fell it's very sturdy and well built.
