This must be a good time of year to sell roosters. I put mine on Craigslist and got about 15 people who wanted them all. It's a relief to have them gone.

I have been so indecisive about which brand of hatcher to buy. I couldn't decide between the Dickey or the GQF. I also have been searching for a smaller type redwood incubator, but I gave up on that.

I did finally order a Dickey hatcher, on Friday. It ships tomorrow. I'm so excited!
chiquita, my husband also thinks I should have got the 2x2 instead.

once i find the report sure. i sat it down and for the life of me cannot remember where x.x i know since using the DE though i have had no issues and no deaths

hasn't it been less than a week though? That's not sufficient time to say the problem is fixed. You are going to do what you are going to do but I agree that it is best you wait.

Nice! You'll be hatching like crazy!

This year, it seems like it took the hens a bit longer to get started and they've been laying off & on. I don't know why. It's been sunny on most days.
The pullets are laying so many eggs, it's crazy.

Since I have one blue egg layer, I've been keeping count of those eggs, so I can have a year's tally. A little unscientific data on how many eggs the blue eggers lay each year. So far, it's 22 eggs since Jan 1.
Thanks Kim! My pullets are going great guns too and just since I posted about their slowness there has bee an uptick in the number of hens laying.

I was able to get rid of two cockerels. The boy I delivered yesterday had 3 people who wanted him!

I am going to try to find homes for three more. I hope they move quickly.

I agree they do seem slower starting up this year. One of my blue eggs layers started up earlier and has been laying regularly, and a wyandotte pullet started. Yesterday we got two blue egg, three or four Dotte eggs and two Marans eggs. The three year old Australorp has been laying all along. Waiting for the slw hens to start up and one has. Happy dance :bun

yes its been less then a week but the chicks wont be shipped for a couple weeks and more then likely if the infestation was as bad as the lady said itll take more then a week to get rid of it. i probably wont have new birds coming in for close to a month

well to be fair you can orders turners to go with your shelves. But you can also have all your turning shelves stay still for hatches . And that is easier and cheaper.

So.. he is right!

Now that you have space you could also just hatch 1 pairs eggs every 5 days or so . Easier to keep track of.

The lice at your place was not gone and is not gone now. If it were gone, it would not have come back that quickly. Since chickens are dying from it, verified by a UCD Necropsy, you need to do a lot more than DE and Sevin to get rid of them.
