no, the tibetian is the older one, the one that you think is white looks like it will be an italian, gold. white would not have the other colors in the feathers.

spring, it is sprunging!
my dog is serious bizness when stealing chicken food
ah i see. the tibetian one is the injured one (got beat up by his old coop mates) listening to the sounds and the colors i think he is a he and idk about the younger one yet

I read somewhere that dark bills on Tibetans was a male trait. Given the numbers you've seen Chiqita, it's an old wives tail?

Amy, I'm still chuckling over your scary dog, ours is indifferent also. It is nice not having to make sure they stay separate.

Penny does like to watch them run, but since she stops as soon as the chickens get a good head of steam, that's all she's doing. Now, Penny was a bit too interested in the chicks last Fall, but Frieda quickly cured her of that! Mind you, Frieda's not much larger than Penny's head :laugh

okay so maybe ill get lucky and the small one will be a hen. i know he/she has been making a call ive heard called the "mating call" and also a low growling sound and something like what a sage grouse makes (a low booming sound like a bass sound) does any of this help decide the sex? also on the ducks how soon will i know who is male or female

I don't think I'll be getting any more Silkies from the batch of eggs I set. Hatching day has come, and is almost gone. Sad thing is, I think I'm going to lose the first little guy too. He's not doing well at all.

So disappointing. Momma hen will be upset too; she's gotten used to having the little guy under her.
