Ooo! I love the dun buff one. Do you think it's a pullet?

Actually the dun buff chick didn't make it into the picture. It is buff with dun tail, chest, face (chocolate points) very pretty. I don't know on sex yet. It has me stumped.

Are button quail kept in pairs? With the cots I need 3 females minimum to prevent scalping.

I believe Buttons are kept in pairs. I have never kept them but they are commonly kept on the floor of aviaries with finches and do a great job of cleaning up otherwise wasted seed.

They are cute, something about the Peanut M&M eggs. The cot eggs are to small for DH. I just did taxes, not looking forward to his reaction to the feed portion.

You can but they are closely related to cots & play much nicer with higher hen ratios. Also, it's important to have plenty of cover & space for hens to hide from overly aggressive boys or other broody hens. The hens can get majorly territorial. You also have to watch the boys around chicks - they'll peck them to death. I like to separate the boys once hens go broody.

As a hatcher: wouldn't a still air styrofoam be better than circulated? Any brand suggestions? I have the hova bator genesis but need another for just hatching

No, a still air is not better-- just less expensive and it would work fine because the tight temperature regulation is not needed at the end of incubation.

It is a commonly held mis conception that low humidity and the air from the fan makes chicks shrink wrap. Sticky chicks come from improper development of the chick caused by too low temperatures, poor flock health and shipping stress mostly. Sticky chicks are the ones that shrink warp.

My Ocatagon 40 has 4 fans on it and chicks do not shrink wrap in it.
