More Bleach information--Use household bleach and not industrial. The cup per gallon is very strong and should not be used except for extreme clean up--like after sewage spills. The strong bleach solution kills germs and is not toxic like straight bleach.

You may think you don't have predators, but you do. As an example there are 3000 coyotes in downtown Chicago and not many people know that. I saw 4 huge racoons in the middle of San Francisco early one morning when I went out to get the newspaper. Predators are everywhere. Don't take the risk.

Just don't do what I did. Straight bleach takes a while to off-gas!

Straight bleach is a no no. Fema says the strongest you should use is a cup of bleach for a gallon of water.

Cornish meat bird update at about 3 weeks old. They are getting big and still following " momma" around foraging. Though they try to forage for themselves, they prefer to lay down and let momma hen do all the work.

This picture is kind of ironic. The cockerel decided to rest on the block of cement where I process birds, LOL.

They still try to snuggle under momma.

Laying down...all the time the lazy birds.

I have about a dozen fertile eggs I couldn't fit in the bator. 8 RIR over White Leghorn 4 Delaware from the mixed pen. The Dels are getting a bit old but the hybrids are still fairly viable. Anyone near Antioch want to try them out.

I have an 8x10 foot tool shed as a hen house with an attached run. There is a pop door as well as an old window - I leave both open all the time except when I'm trying to corral them for treating of something (like lice or mites). My run is very secure, though. We have hawks & neighborhood cats & opossums.
