generic fipronil caused problems in cats. Not sure why.
But frontline plus has almost identical ingredients, except the cat version has a higher percent of one of the Ingredients.
Never had a problem using frontline plus on cats
The big thing is that the big dog version is less expensive over all and will last a long time.

Revolution is another option.

i agree on the cost savings when buying the large dog version.
I haven't tried revolution. Has it been used on birds?
I switched my actual dogs to k9 advantix. The vet says it works better but my dogs are scratching again.
Cats can't have that I believe due to the permethrins in it. BIG warning on it for cats. I won't be trying it on birds.

Yes, it has been used on birds--I have not used it though. I have used frontline before.

So last week I had a young pullet with an impacted crop. She's only 1 of 2 nice blue Am's so I tried to save her.
She couldn't even walk the crop was so heavy. She's 3 months old.
I performed crop surgery and it was quite easy! I used gorilla glue instead of super glue to close things up. Didn't have anything else.
Not sure if regular folks can buy dissolvable sutures but will find out.
I put her on antibiotics
It's been a week and the crop is working well! She was only on chick start for first week with no access to treats or grit. Today she got a little of those.
Her crop was full of feathers at surgery! So may be a protein issue she was lacking .
I was a bit skeptic but so happy she's doing well. Just wanted to share my wonderful experience!
That is amazing! I would be afraid to try that unless I was OK with losing the bird. Of course...that might well be the end result of you didn;t try anyway.

This place looks like they sell absorbable suture. The cheapest is about $30 for 12 packets with swedged on needles.

There are tons of things cats can't have due their sensitivity. Even some things they can have that dogs use must be in much lower doses than even the same size dog would use I usually get the Walmart version, but found it in single dose packages at Dollar General yesterday. They only had the small and medium size but it was only $6. I figured if it turned out that I couldn't use it on the chickens I could give it to my Mom for her dog.

Picked my eggs up at the post office this morning. One advantage of them sitting there since Saturday--the air cells that I could see were nice and solid.

Not super dark, but the listing did say they were cull eggs.

ill check out the link, thank you :). Yes she would have been a goner if I didn't try anything. It had been quite a few days and wasn't getting better before surgery. So I didn't have anything to lose . Just so happy she's doing great!

On the $1 store: they sell generic frontline?

congrats! This time of year many eggs are lighter. So POL was probably darker

for this time of year the color is good. They get lighter over the laying season so the darkest was months ago.

I hope they hatch for you!

Quote: That is decent color. They usually look lighter in pictures and I have seen much lighter. Many of mine from Marans are closer to the lightest one in that batch.

It was actually at Dollar General. It is not a Dollar store, but has most things for less. It has been around long before the modern Dollar Stores came into existence. It was $6 for the single dose

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.

I hope so, too!

ETA: Doesn't look it, but 'twas a simulpost with Audio!
