It depends on if they were shipped or not.

The brinsea big end up would be best for shipped eggs. For local eggs I would use the auto-turner in the genesis--You might need to use quail rails though.

Mine hatch fine in the regular egg rails in the 1588.

The auto turner in the Genesis 1588 has more vibration in it so it is not as good for shipped eggs. The brinsea auto turner is smoother.

Anybody have experience with Penedesenca? Looking for a local breeder, would love to add a hen or two to my flock. Do they lay as dark as Marans? Flighty? Tempermant? Heat tolerant? Any input on the breed or connections to the breed would be greatly appreciated.

Hangtown Farms in Placerville only has eggs. Was hoping for a pullet or POL hen. A long shot, but I'm just not setup for eggs yet.

I plan on setting some penedesenca eggs in a week or two. I might even get a pullet or two!

The Partridge are 85% auto sexing by color.

Dark as Marans: Yes
Flighty?: Human avoidant and they do Fly...
Heat Tolerant?: Very, ultra, the most heat tolerant breed there is.

I like them quite a bit. They will not be huggie pets though.

I was hoping you'd chime in. Jason at hangtown mentioned you also worked with the breed. I'm in sacramento. Do you breed to sell? If you have pullets for sale in the future, I'd be interested. Trying to avoid babies for the rest of the year, even though my daughters would disagree on that. What colors are you working with? My marans has been laying wonderfully and a nice dark egg, but I think the heat gets to her somedays. She can be a brat in general as well.

Question, in regards to combs, I've noticed quite a few pictures of hens with floppy combs, is this typical of the breed?

Mine are from my backyard. I have had no luck with shipped Serama eggs

Thanks, that one is far from floppy. She's a pretty girl. Partridge color correct? Do you work with the blacks as well? I wonder what causes the floppy combs then, quite a few pictures showed it when I was researching the breed.
