California - Northern

Mine don't really tunnel but they are good at finding the weak spots in the fencing or the gate that was left open just slightly!  I currently have a 10-12 week old chick that keeps getting into the garden area.  I can't figure out how she does it.  The fences are too high for her to fly over so she must have found a gap at the bottom.

Ron, I recently read that Pita Pinta are not a Mediterranean breed.  They are an Atlantic breed.  This is a nice introductory article with photos.

There is no Atlantic breed in the US.

Thanks, Walt. Since this breed is fairly new to the US, almost all of the info written about them is either Spanish or European. It was introduced to Europe in 2000. So, would you classify it as a Mediterranean breed?

I believe that would be appropriate, but while reading about them it seems they are a recreation. That in itself is not a problem in recognition here in the US, but they had no Standard to be recreated to from what I have read.

I will let you know after we use it and if I can tell if it worked!

I've been working on my Welsummers to improve type and also egg color. Type is improving nicely this year, and my first pullet of this year started laying. All 4 eggs are from the same pullet, but they are darkening every day. Welsummers are supposed to lay terra cotta (clay pot colored) eggs, and it just doesn't get much better than this! I so can't wait for the rest of them to start laying! This shows the coloring well. Same eggs with a late season Marans egg on top for color comparison.
Looking good Kelly!

Well now 4 of my 8 college age pullets are laying 3 more about 5 weeks behind them. Got 5 eggs from my 8 hens today too. Bumper crop of eggs today.

HELP ASAP!!!!! My little Serama rooster just started like seizing in his cage and flailing so I pulled him out and his head was back and he was like stiff so I held him and he like pulled up water/saliva and now I'm holding him and he keeps going limp then waking up and he's panting. Help I don't want to lose him!

Make sure he does not have something caught in his throat. Other than that, keep him comfortable. If he becomes stable, post in the emergency section to see if someone there has ideas for what is wrong and to treat it.

He finally stopped panting and getting stiff now he's just in my lap seeming really sleepy. He doesn't really want to move unless I make him
