IT'S TIME TO SPEAK UP OR GIVE UPYOUR CROWING FOWL

Once this zoning change becomes finalized, it isn't going to be easy to get our property rights returned. If you zoned (AR), Ag Residential, you may not be as safe from this ban as you think. Roberta MacGlashan the District 4 Supervisor, (see map:http://www.bos.saccounty.net/District4/Documents/District4Map.pdf was talking about applying the ban to your residential zoning category as well. And what other animals or livestock are they going to ban next? Also, please note that other zoning changes were voted on regarding pens, coops, fences, walls, etc.

The Sacto County Supervisors want to see an angry hoard (so to speak) as Serna hinted at during the July 22nd meeting. Don't give up your male fowl or your property rights! We are asking anyone interested in attending a planning meeting to send me a private message. Please include your zip code and dates/times you are available and we'll figure out a location/date/time that fits everyone's needs as best we can.

The Supervisors will revisit the crowing fowl section of their zoning amendments “tentatively” on:

Wednesday October 28, 2015, 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Board Chambers, 700 H Street, 1st floor, in Suite 1450, Sacramento, CA 95814.

Contact: Kevin Romo, 916-874-8178 to confirm meeting agenda, date/time.

OR

Call, write, email, tweet or Facebook all five Supervisors and tell them

what you think.

Okay, we're going to town and I'm going to start raising meal worms.... so,I need oatmeal, carrots,Potatoes, apples? Anything else? I noticed some people use bran, should I get some tomorrow? I'm going to go with the three drawer Steralite thingie.... I'm getting some live meal worms at PETSMART... Is there anything I'm forgetting??
I'm getting extra live meal worms so I can feed some to my chickens now...lol
Wheat bran or oatmeal is great for substrate (bedding) - I use wheat bran (available at feed stores). For moisture, potatoes & carrots are good - apples may be too moist and encourage mold which will kill a colony.
You'll get a lot more meal worms (& better quality) for your money by ordering online - I like Rainbow Mealworms & they run specials now & again.

I guess she had gone in there but didn't get out before dark.

Well that was fun.

I heard some squacking and when I went to check it out I found 2 of the bantams in their run. I opened the coop door and found the %$&$ skunk in the far nest box!
I moved the slw and orp without any problem. Then I got to reach in and catch the Brahma and the EE without getting anyone sprayed.
After the ladies were tucked into the back-up pen, DH came out to see what was going on while I was slapping the nestbox trying to get it out of the coop.
This bugger has been hanging around for years, just can't get it in a spot to take it out.

I guess I'll be putting in a wire floor on my next day off.

Oh my goodness, we're almost finished with putting in the wire around our whole coop and hen house... I sure hope we don't get a skunk or anything else.... I would have screamed and probably got sprayed....

Thank you so much, I got them at PETSMART and I don't think they are real healthy.... so I'll order more on line...I put them in with oatmeal because I couldn't find Wheat Bran, I'll get it when we go to town next....I put some baby Carrots in and they are already attacking them...
How high of sides should my drawers have? I'm wondering if when the bugs grow, I don't want them to get out.... And I need to know what size of screen do I use on the bottom of the first drawer?
thank you!
