How did the meeting go.
It ran late as there were over 25 speakers, including a vet who sees many fowl at her practice, with only one person who was defending the ban because he didn't like noise along with one of the chairmen, Susan Peters, who is vehemently against any noise making fowl at all. She seems to have it in for anything with feathers & isn't afraid to say so.That is horrible for all of Sac County?? Hope there was good news at the meeting
That is great news!It ran late as there were over 25 speakers, including a vet who sees many fowl at her practice, with only one person who was defending the ban because he didn't like noise along with one of the chairmen, Susan Peters, who is vehemently against any noise making fowl at all. She seems to have it in for anything with feathers & isn't afraid to say so.
One woman brought a recording of a rooster right by her house in Fair Oaks and a recording of a loud & persistently barking dog. There was a high school girl from FFA (which was discussed & suggested be exempt along with 4H by the board); a breeder of show birds said that breeders should be exempt also, and that bans on roosters would reduce protection of pure breeds.
Many people said they had moved to their area specifically for the rural atmosphere and to be able to raise farm animals including roosters ducks turkey & guinea fowl. There were very emotional people who stressed that they consider their roosters family and would be devastated if they had to give them up for anything. It was also pointed out that opposed to have them euthanized many people would probably just turn them free in Fair Oaks Village, which has a lot as of now. At that, Susan Peters stipulated that "feral" roosters were not at risk by this new ordinance & she was persistent to correct people that roosters were not chickens.![]()
District 1 Supervisor even said that his office had received only 6 complaints this year, 5 of them to the same address at different dates & that with passing this strict ordinance he was realizing they may be opening themselves up to way more trouble than it's worth.
They actually seemed to listen and asked some questions. Other than Peters, they all were not aware of what they would be getting in to & even agreed that dogs were more a nuisance along with leaf blowers, music & other noise that is covered with an already standing loud noise ordinance. DERP![]()
In the end, only Peters voted to pass the strict amendment so YAY!![]()
They will look over all this so this won't be the last time it will try to be pushed but maybe after she is done with her term it can be dropped.

That's how I find it is often when someone hates something or someone, they don't bother learning about it or choose to be ignorant about it & would rather just hate it.That is great news!
It is so odd to me that someone could be so ignorant about something they hate so much. Roosters are not chickens...OMG!
