Hi curious chickee ~ Question: What are the weight of Brahma bantams? - if you are getting that egg production that is very good - also, what is the weight of your avg Brahma bantam egg? I love feather-footed, crested or bearded breeds (I have Breda, and Silkies). My research indicated Brahma bantam layed 1-2 eggs/week ~ that must average in the the rest of the year they are broody and not laying. It's said Silkies lay only 1-2 eggs/week but we figured that was a yearly average taking into account the time they go broody and not laying because our 2.2-lb and 2.45-lb Silkie hens will crank out 4-5 eggs/weekly 1.25 to 1.5 oz eggs when they're in laying cycle. In their pullet year they were cranking out 6 eggs/week which when they go broody I'm grateful because they need the rest from laying so many eggs for such a little bird.
My girls range from 2.4 - 2.7 lbs., Pullet egg is about 1.4 oz, hen eggs about 1.8 the same size as my layer Pullet eggs. The 1-2 eggs must be because just like silkies and Cochins they live to go broody. Yes, my pullets give an egg almost daily, but they are slow to mature. My spring born chicks don't lay until next spring. They are little shorter and much stocker than silkies, like an English bulldog. My silkie rooster is about 3 inches taller but several ounces lighter than my brahma rooster.
