Hi curious chickee ~ Question:  What are the weight of Brahma bantams? - if you are getting that egg production that is very good - also, what is the weight of your avg Brahma bantam egg?  I love feather-footed, crested or bearded breeds (I have Breda, and Silkies).  My research indicated Brahma bantam layed 1-2 eggs/week ~ that must average in the the rest of the year they are broody and not laying.  It's said Silkies lay only 1-2 eggs/week but we figured that was a yearly average taking into account the time they go broody and not laying because our 2.2-lb and 2.45-lb Silkie hens will crank out 4-5 eggs/weekly 1.25 to 1.5 oz eggs when they're in laying cycle.  In their pullet year they were cranking out 6 eggs/week which when they go broody I'm grateful because they need the rest from laying so many eggs for such a little bird.

My girls range from 2.4 - 2.7 lbs., Pullet egg is about 1.4 oz, hen eggs about 1.8 the same size as my layer Pullet eggs. The 1-2 eggs must be because just like silkies and Cochins they live to go broody. Yes, my pullets give an egg almost daily, but they are slow to mature. My spring born chicks don't lay until next spring. They are little shorter and much stocker than silkies, like an English bulldog. My silkie rooster is about 3 inches taller but several ounces lighter than my brahma rooster.

I have four very nice cockerels that I need to relocate. They are 4 months old. Half orp half EE
one is half cuckoo Maran half orp. The father is a very easy going Orpington. If interested let me know. They will be butchered on Friday.

Thanks for the info. In researching egg size on breeds there is never a specified weight - only peewee, small, medium, large, extra large, or jumbo. No one ever commits to giving a weight range. Thx again!

Anybody here want some young Fantail Pigeons? I have far too many, they keep reproducing. Varying shades of white and chocolate. Unsexed (since I'm a novice and haven't any clue how to sex them accurately). Ranging from about 2-8 months of age or thereabouts. $10 each. I probably have about 6-8 total I'd be like to sell.
What kind of fantails?

Mixed Indian and American, based on their leg feathering. Although I know a few of the parents are good breeder quality, I know I also have some that are pet quality. I have no idea about variety, I don't know a whole lot about pigeons yet. I'll try to get some pictures of them tomorrow.
I had Indian fantails as a kid. I had one female which was partially almond and she got best Old bird in the one show I took her to. (very limited indian fantail competition but to a kid it was a big deal) She was a very nice bird and I liked her. Was never able to breed her though but was interested in breeding them at one time. Dont have the space for pigeons at the moment but there are a few types I may be interested in the future.

I was told you can help me change my last name on BYC. I just got married in June and trying to get through this lengthy process with my whole life of financials, forums, and everything else. Also, I only use my Android phone in case that matters. I sure appreciate any help. I looked everywhere on BYC, but couldn't figure it out.I'm not computer savvy at all.
Thanks.

Hi Lyn
Where in California are you?
I am in Stockton.

I think the reason is she wont let him mate. I think he caught her once or twice a while ago and I checked for fertility before I set the eggs and it looked like she was fertile but apparently I was catching the tail end of her fertile streak.
ah, OK - different from my situation - he had gotten a bit of action.
