California - Northern

Hey, everyone! I'm Neona; first-time chicken keeper in the Santa Cruz area. Figured I'd pop in and introduce myself. I currently have six pullets of various breeding and can't wait to expand to a second flock! Does anyone in my area have a personal recommendation on local breeders for meat birds? I've found a few on Google but I like hearing other peoples good experiences.

Hi neona
I am julie. I live in Stockton. I haven't done meat birds. I o have pitapintas which are a dual purpose breed.

I will be processing three cockerels tomorrow. They are not meat birds or dual purpose but they will still be very tasty!
I even did some leghorn varieties when it was time to cull, and, although there's not a ton of meat, they were still quite good!
I finally have all the cockerels I will use for breeding picked out from this year's grow outs... sometimes that process takes forever! Hoping to get everyone in their pens in a couple weeks - provided the building of a couple more goes as planned!

Welcome! Glad you joined us! Sometimes this thread is fairly quiet, sometimes it's hoppin'! I love the Santa Cruz area! When my family just needs a quick get away, we often find ourselves in that neck of the woods! :)
