California - Northern

Ok, this is what a dork I am. Always thought of myself as “Northern Californian,” but I’m from the Bay Area. We do have a Bay Area thread, but I can’t find it!
Anyway...
Who here is feeling super spoiled with our California weather? I keep reading emergency posts about extreme frostbite on wattles and combs, feet frozen solid, water freezing, etc. That is not an issue here. In fact, I thibk this is the least amount of frost I’ve seen in a few years! I am more concerned with mold growth. I am actually seeding my yard with chicken forage seed blend! How about the rest of you? What challenges are you facing and what perks are you enjoying?
This is good time to be in California for weather.
Here in Woodland, it gets very not in the summer though

Hey everyone! I've been gone a bit, medical problems. Hope ya'll have been doing well!:thumbsup

I'm looking to hatch again, anyone around Sacramento have a handful of silkie eggs? My R-Com only holds 3.
Thanks!
It is good to see you back!

I hope you find silkie eggs to hatch

Hey guys, my friend who volunteers with local shelters says they have three hens and a rooster at Berkeley Animal Care Services. The rooster is 10 months old, hens age unknown, laying unknown, they have a guess at a buff orpington, RIR, and "Ameraucana" so probably Easter Egger. They have a small adoption fee but are willing to sponsor a good home. Let me know if you want a link, thanks!

Hi folks! Would anyone have a silkie hen for sale (or even rent!)? We're looking for a foster mom for some sweet chicks near Pacifica.
Although silkies will go broody easier than other hens, there is no guaranty that one that is not broody will raise chicks.

Have you setup a brooder for the chicks?
