Nice! What kinds of chickens are you keeping?

An assortment, then a bunch of cross breeds. Couple polish, couple Orpingtons, couple Swedish flower hens, Easter goers.

It's kind of a long story, as, up until recently, I was mostly keeping my neighbors' chickens, since they free ranged them and they kept coming over to hang out in the barn. The Rhode Island Red in my profile photo stuck around after they cooped up the others, so, now I'm down to a one-chicken flock.

I miss having the others around, though, so, I'm set to start incubating some Buff Orpington eggs early next month. I think eventually I would like to get some bantams, but, haven't decided which type yet. I've seen some information about shows and such and that kind of sounds like fun. I think there's one in Modesto early next year, so, I might go to that and see if there are any breeders that will chat with me about their bantams.

I'm south of the evacuation areas, but not by much, so I'm keeping a close eye on things.

Edit: My job is in the evacuation area, though. I don't know when I'm going back to work.

The Camp Fire was insane. We are where the Valley Fire was (my folks were in it), the same time my partner and I were evacuating the Rough Fire in the Sierra Nevadas!

I'm south of the evacuation areas, but not by much, so I'm keeping a close eye on things.

Edit: My job is in the evacuation area, though. I don't know when I'm going back to work.

We just got an evac warning for south Lake County because of a spot fire that jumped the containment at Ida Clayton Rd

I have been coordinating with folks to help move livestock, and I have an ill family member needing medical equipment that is on generator... *sigh*

I'm praying to Mother Earth herself to spare us...
