Hi everyone - unfortunately I picked up two cockerels yesterday. I can't have roosters, so if anyone wants them please let me know.

They are 3 weeks, 5 days old and were hatched 2/16.

If anyone is up by Orinda and plans to come down to the South Bay at all, I am looking for someone to pick me a couple of pullets from the same hatch. I can't drive all the way there.

I was really hoping for some dark brown eggs... my first marans ended up a roo as well and I had to rehome him. Hopefully my luck will change!

I have two splash cockerels, also. Six weeks old this Friday. I am keeping one for my breeding program, but need the other to go. They are both feathering out so nicely, too! Sorry can't help out. Why did you get them? In with the "must buy as a package" lot, I'm guessing!

Do mine look like yours? A few people said to wait a few weeks to see how they develop so I don't accidently give away a pullet. I asked the breeder to take a look at the others from the same batch and she said they were kind of all like that and maybe one pullet sooooo...

I said cockerel as soon as I saw them, but I met the seller at her work and they were in the back of the car... I figured if one or two ended up a cockerel then I could rehome them and if not then I get lucky with a pullet or two.

They are adorable whatever sex they are! And your photos are fantastic! What kind of camera do you have? Someday I'm going to have the farm I've always dreamed of and will be able to have a roo for my girls.

I have a Canon 50D... I took this with a 17-85 4-5.6 lens, natural light and in Photoshop I sharpened a little and resized using an action called Heidi's and then I saved for web. I wish I had the time to develop some real skills with it, but for the most part I'm just taking photos of my kids and chickens. I upgraded to a DSLR after my middle kid was born - they move so fast I needed something that would capture the movement fast enough.

What is this Heidi's action you speak of? I use Photo Shop but am not familiar with that term.

I should take a class, since I sell my photos now and then, but haven't gotten around to it. *sigh* Maybe someday.

I need to take a class too, DH spent $1,500 on a Canon 40D for me 3 years ago, and I love playing with it, but don't know the first thing about taking really good photo's. Hey Jenesis, do you offer classes?

I was going to go to this photographer's conference in San Antonio this April but then we ran out of money and time. They are a little more basic than I wanted since they're open to folks with no experience at all and/or have simple point and shoot cameras but they cover a ton of info during the three days so figured I could catch up on new ideas as well as review the basics.

I would love to improve my photography skills. Now if I could just find the time! I had a Fuji FinePix S7000 that I loved and it took great pics. Then it had an encounter with a leaking water bottle in my beach bag on the way home from Santa Cruz and bit the dust. I waited a few months and bought a Canon EOS Rebel T2i. I have not been real happy with it. Maybe I just need to play around with it some more but so far, the pics aren't as good as the ones taken with my Fuji.
