I bought the Rebel 3 years ago, took it to a wedding the same day I bought it, and just wasn't happy with it, so I returned it and bought the Canon 40D, it was only a difference of a couple hudred bucks (The Better Lens that comes with the 40D is worth more than that), and I love the 40D, so I thought it was worth it. I also always buy from Best Buy, because I can Buy the accident protection. A couple years ago our dog knocked over a big glass of orange juice on our Laptop, took it to best buy, they couldn't fix it, so we got a brand new one, and even the newer model! So Camera, Laptop, Wii and TV all have Accident Protection on them.

Sorry, but they sure do look like boys to me! Of my two, one has most clearly been a boy since week two, and now you see he has wattles, a serious comb, etc:

While this little guy just popped out this week as a roo! Drat! Looks more like yours do, and these brothers hatched on 2/4/2011.

GIRLS!

Sorry for y'all who've see these already! I haven't actually met anyone (except Cheryl on the Bay Area thread, who also ordered her eggs from the gal in Texas after I did) who also has Splash Marans babies!

Greetings all from Rescue, CA. OK, if you are scratching your head, think just east of Folsom lake up in the El Dorado foothills.

We started with chickens about 4 years ago. Lots of lessons learned about predators in this area (raccoons, skunks, foxes, coyotes, and worst of all neighbor dogs), but we have stuck with it and currently have 14 layers. We will be adding another 25-30 in the next couple of months.

Glad I found this site and look forward to learning, sharing, and being part of the community.

How did you all survive the storm? We lost a section of our back fence, but otherwise we did okay. Luckily we have big, healthy evergreens in the front yard. It sounds like a lot of trees went down last night around the area.

The storm was pretty mild, as far as tree falling goes. Last year's snow did far more damage - we were without power for 4 days. Hoping the winds today are not too bad.
