Posting random request in NorCal forum.

Is anybody hatching goslings around April 15th?
It looks like I might be hatching a solo sebbie, and I'd like to find it a goose buddy. Breed doesn't matter.
Pm me if you're expecting! I'm near Sacramento, but willing to drive.
Thanks!

Guess it's time to introduce myself, as I'm pretty sure I haven't yet.

I'm Jen, and I live right on the edge of Roseville/Granite Bay/Orangevale. Bought our first (run-down, fixer) house last year, and I've been working hard to make my mini-farm. Unfortunately, the rockhard clay compressed soil fights me every day.

We were going to start with some chicks, but in mid February, a neighbor down the street was moving and was looking to find a new home for her 2 Buff Orpingtons and Black Cochin. We gladly took them, and in late February picked up 3 chicks from Douglas Feed - a Silver Laced Wyandotte, an Easter Egger, and a Rhode Island Red. The Big Girls were giving us delicious eggs the first day we took them home, and the babies are doubling in size every day it seems. I've learned SO MUCH from this site, so glad to have you all around!

Hi Tendriana, I live in Wilton, so not too far from you. My parents live in Rocklin. I just joined this site. It is nice to have peeps so close. We moved from the city 4 years ago and love living in the country.

Where's Wilton chickflick? We pass through Rocklin often. I used to visit friends there a lot and miss these visits. Love the Rocklin area but haven't heard of Wilton. Just asking cause Hubby is looking for a job and Sacramento is one of the towns he's looking at but I'd rather live further out in the country where they are more chicken friendly.

SD, Wilton would be a good community for you. It is just southeast of Sacramento and is very poultry-friendly. It's about a 25-30 minute drive to Sac which isn't bad, and most of it is a pretty nice drive if you stay off the 99 & come up Jackson Hwy instead. I lived out there very briefly in 1984, and it was soooo peaceful and quiet. It's extremely rural but close enough to the big city to be a viable choice.

Problem is, Sacramento is one of the suckiest areas in the country right now for finding jobs, but it all depends on what one does for a living. I'm sure there are more jobs in some industries here than others. I wish you good luck in your search & hope y'all find something that fits your family.

Thank you! He has a job now but we don't like the Reno area much. Not sure they care for us Californians much either!

JK, they are sweet folks here but I can't talk politics (even mundane things) to anybody here!!! I like Sacramento for a lot of things (used to live in Stockton when I was younger and we came to Sacramento often) but wouldn't want to live in town full-time. Thanks for the tip about the commute. I do hate the traffic jams in Sac! I won't be upset if DH has to stay where he is. He works 4-10hr days and it is nice having 3 day weekends!

They don't pay much though and DH knows he's worth a lot more. Still, in this economy, it's nice just having steady employment!

Oops, I got close to talking politics here! Excuse the reference to "the economy". I meant that in the most generic way.
