California - Northern

Maybe it is the bizarro weather we've had. We've gotten over .5" so far and will probably reach 1 inch of rain by the end of the day. The poor chickens don't know what to think.

My BCMs are out in the yard. Standing under another raised coop. You'd think they'd go inside, but no, dumb birds.

I just set 16 ?? eggs. WOW forgot that fast. I sanded my BCM eggs. They look like little watermelons. LOL We'll see if that helps. I swear I about cry when they DIS. They are always perfect and huge. I got the SPPRs to at least start last time, so hopefully I'll get a couple of those.

Just checked the hatcher for tomorrows hatch and I have an egg rocking. Yep, one of the Marans X Game mixes. Those things pop out almost like quail.

My broodie with the 2 babies, didn't hatch out anything but Olive Eggers. Thought I'd check a BCM egg and "POP!!!!" I hate the smell of rotten egg.

Unabashed plug for my listing for various (mostly) cockerals available for pickup in the San Francisco Bay Area - some free, others have nominal cost - all are negotiable for the right home.

Interesting mix of birds, including a number of mille fleur project cochins.

Thanks for looking!

Hi Everyone! We live in the East Bay and are expecting our little chicks around July 11th. SO EXCITED!!!

I am thinking about rehoming my Buckeye flock. I'm open to maybe co-owning them with someone or selling them. There are 2 roosters that should go to separate homes since one is being dominated by the other.
These would be a good barnyard flock. They are from darkeggs.com (Ideal) & Sand Hill lines. The roosters are nice. I don't think the hens are good enough to show. Mixed ages from chicks to several years old.
Located in Guinda ( Capay Valley), NW Yolo County.

Ohhhhhhhh...... I already have a rather large, eclectic flock but MAN I have been wanting Buckeyes forever! I finally broke down about 3 weeks ago and ordered some chicks in with another person, and got 4 Buckeye pullet chicks. I currently live in Yolo county (West Sacramento) and am moving to El Dorado County.... haven't moved my flock yet. Dang. Dang. Dang.

Hope you find a good prospect for them! Would you mind throwing out a few photos of them onto this thread so I can drool over them, though????

Are you sure that you wouldn't want a rooster? These two need to be separated. One is dominating the other too much.
