The last 2 Light BRAHMAS I will combine into this one post (I feel bad taking up more than a whole page!)

#3, my guess: Roo

And Last but not least...
Light Brahma #4
my guess: Hen

Kim I haven't read the article nor could I click on it for some reason. I tried the one Ron sent too.
I am really cutting back on breeds to cut nack to just the ones I really want to keep. I need to find my contact info on Craig to make sure he doesn't forget me come Fall.....LOL. I want to keep a few Heritage breeds for sure & then of course I have to have my Marans for those nice dark eggs........LOL. I have been hatching B/W Ameraucanas from the Pips and Peep trio I have & some Splash Ameraucanas too. I just gotta have those pretty eggs along with the pretty chickens. It has long since gone past the money of it all. I stopped counting....it was too discouraging.....LOL. It is all about the fun...........My retirement pleasure. I have done more trading lately than selling....LOL

The article opens up a pff file. You might be able to right click the link an select save file as and then open the downloaded file with acrobat.

Funny, I was just thinking today that I was already missing hatching chicks. My last hatch was 2 and a half weeks ago...

Is chain link fencing adequate for one wall of the coop? We have a 10x10 dog kennel for the run. We were going to make the edge of the kennel with the door on it- one wall of the coop. Is that safe enough?

Not if you're locking them in it at night. Predators can grab the chickens and try to pull them through. It's OK for a run that they use during the day but hardware cloth is the only really secure type of fencing.

It looks like I have 2 Free Rooster Chicks...
about 4 weeks old
1/2 Cream Legbar 1/2 welsummer / partridge penedesenca if anyone is wanting one let me know.
Good looking little guys so far. Breed back to a Welsummer Maran or Penedesenca to get a neat looking olive egger

I am using the hens I got to breed back to my Crele Penedesenca. would love to work on a auto sexing olive egger project

I suggested to my husband to go ahead and use it as one of the walls and we can also cover it with hardware cloth. The floor and other 2 walls will also be covered in hardware cloth. (man that stuff was pricey when you have to buy like 8 rolls!) The back wall is metal, then chicken wire then wood. LOL So I have 3 walls to manage. I was hoping to basically use the chain link panel that has the door as one of the walls because I can utilize the door of the run as a way to open the run to the chickens during the day and close them up at night. Does this sound ok? I'll post a pic of our slow progress tomorrow. :)

My Orp roo has been sneezing today. And sometimes breathing with his mouth open. I don't like the looks of that. So far it's just him- the other 5 in the brooder with him are fine. The 2 week old baby chicks also seem fine. As do my goslings. All week they are outside during the day (I place them in a basket and carry them outside to their giant 'cage' where they can poke around and be chickens. I put some vitamin/electrolyte stuff in their water tonight. I am so worried. I don't know what in the world would cause it or trigger it to be honest. Samson my little sweetie BCM roo came up to the door of their brooder and sat while I pet him. I am really attached to him- I pray everything is fine with them all tomorrow.

Hi zooweemama,

If possible, you should separate him from the others.

They aren't supposed to sneeze. Mouth open could be from being overheated. Watch for watery eyes too. Do they eat earth worms?

zooweemama,

The hardware cloth only has to be around the bottom, up to two feet. That keeps the Racoons from pulling the chickens out trough the holes.

It's not bad to have extra though. You will find uses for it.

I hope he just has some shavings or feed up there that he can sneeze out
