Need to have any chickens processed??

I will likely process the birds I have anyway even if I have to pay the $5 per bird, but I'd love to bring the cost down. I just don't have time and space to do it and I don't want to move them to my new property since they were exposed to ILT. The roos are crowing and I can't have them here... So, I'll be processing on Thurs or Friday. If anyone wants to get in on it, it would only be $2.75 per bird if you have 7 birds. If you have less just add 10 and divide into 50 to get your price per bird. legit chicken math there. :-) Send me a PM if interested and willing to meet me in Sac with your chickens on Thurs or Friday. Thanks all and hope I find someone with roos or chickens destined for freezer camp!! :-)

Welcome Chics N Dogs! This thread is amazing...you will love it! I am a new chicken owner too. I'm on vacation right now but pick up my guys again on Saturday (we had them for only a week or two before leaving for vacation a month ago!) Your chickens are so cute! I love all of the pictures you posted.. We love pictures (right Ron?!) I have 4 Marraduna Basques (1 cockerel, 3 pullets) for breeding and 4 Barnevelders for egg consumption.

Hope you enjoy the thread as much as I have!

Pretty excited to have been led to this board! I am in Napa, (northern California). I only have one other friend who is raising chickens and she is about an hour away. Very excited to get opinions from others in California as I am a complete newbie to chicken raising love. I have a very mixed flock.
Ready for a million pictures?
Here is Frankie monster (my sons version of Frankenstein.

This is the lover of all the chickens. This guy has been attacked by the dog twice, a coyote once and is now blind in one eye but still comes when called and is a cuddle bug like not other. I swear he is part cat. Peanut Butter
Welcome Welcome!! This thread is so busy lately. Loving it- glad to have you!

I only have babies still. I hope someone else needs some processed. What do you do- cart them all down 'alive' and then come back later and pick them up all ready to cook?

I think Debi is Petrock?

We are all here to help support each other with the chicken addiction

. Egg color is very fun. I love all of the colors.

Next on my list is Purple. Wolftracks from Modesto is working on chickens that lay purple eggs. I saw a picture of one that looked to be the color of a plum.

There are 2 of us Debi's on here now. Sometimes I'm confused when I read about the other Debi.

I just have a backyard flock with no rooster so no fertile eggs. I do help out at Cheryl's ranch and have done some hatching for her.

Debi from Red Bluff, where you got your Marans.
Cheryl- I'm so sorry for your health issues. <3 I hope your posting means you are feeling better.

Pam- Debi from Red Bluff? Or the Debi in this thread? How awesome that she hatched some eggs for her friend though!

I've been thinking that I'd love to have a few blue egg laying pullets- I don't feel like that would mess with me keeping my Marans pure because Marans lay dark brown eggs so it would be easy to keep track of what was purebred and what were my Easter Eggers correct? I mean when a BC Marans hatches- they are unmistakeable in appearance. And with keeping just one breed of Roo I would ensure that I would have some EEs and that I still have some straight bred BCM right?

I would REALLY love to have green eggs. Thanks to BYC for planting the egg color virus in my brain. :P I don't want other colors really but I would love to have light brown, dark brown and olive eggs.

Cheryl, so sorry to hear this. I'm glad you at least are reading. I had two back surgeries back in March and it's been a long recovery, not to mention the 3 years prior dealing with the pain. Reading the forum was a great escape and while I could read it was hard to put a post together that made half sense! Hope it gets figured out soon.

zooweemama, if you get an EE roo (and I can help you there) and a Marans roo then you wouldn't know who fathered the chicks unless you separated the chickens and roos out.
