For Maddy:

Kim, are those the yellow they are supposed to have? This is a Golden Laced Wyendotte getting over the ugly feather stage.
The Standard says rich yellow for the legs. Ron's looks closer to what I would call rich yellow than Maddy's. I am not a judge and not familiar with Wyandottes, but the legs & beak on her birds do not look yellow. I'm not sure if the combs are how a Rose comb should look either. They are really pretty chickens, though, and they look good sized to me.

Maddy, I noticed that you got a response from NYREDS on another thread. That person is an APA judge and will give you correct answers to your questions.

Best wishes,
Kim

ps Ron, funny Corwin! Dork roos aren't always so brave.

I'm not sure how many times you can use it in the post, but it's spelled "Cocci", short for coccidiosis.

I also found out It is Corid and not Corrid.

They don't like it when I mis spell Ameraucana too. I really love that thread. I am subscribed to it even though I don't have any of those....Can I call the Penedesenca chickens Pennies? My fingers have a terrible time navigating the keyboard typing it out. I love them too but should I have them if I have trouble spelling their name?

what am I????

cream legbar x welsummer/ penedesenca... Boy probably the girls where both brown

I agree with Deb about this being a boy.

I love the rose crossed with pea comb. Does he also have a bit of straight comb too?

I read today that it takes more generations to fix a comb than to fix feet color. The person talked about some genetics calculator. There is so much to figure out with genetics.

Didn't they need the head to do a thorough necropsy? I had no idea worms could result in respiratory issues.

Kim

Hi, Kim -
Yep, I'm Pat. We met back in March at the Sonoma County class - I took some of the pictures.
They probably did need the head, but I just plum forgot it.

Oh, well - next time I'll do better. Don't want that missing head syndrome to turn into an epidemic.
I haven't wormed them yet - I got the Ivermectin, got all the way home & realized that I might need syringes too. Duh.
