How is the special need chick?

Bye,

Ron

Anyone in the Sacramento area going to be showing at the Gold Country Fair in Sept? Just finishing up my entries now.

Hey all, how long after separating my breeds before I know I'll have a pure hatching egg?

I've heard at least 30 days.

Oooh Central and Northern Ca people!!!  I'm in the Sacramento area (Rocklin to be specific)  Nice to talk with others in the same basic area!
:) Hello...Welcome, I'm just up the Hill from you...Newcastle :P

Welcome to the thread and hello from Concord!

I let Copper come in for a bit. His poop is starting to look more normal. Wee bit of blood in it towards the beginning. I hope that's normal. Seems to be clearing up. I read to withhold food for 24hrs and so he hasn't had anything to eat since the one time I offered mash yesterday. Just water. Seems to be helping him clear out his system. Today I read to start him on yogurt. Plain unflavored.

Excuse my typos. Sent from my iPhone.

Im so glad to hear he's doing well!! How did you get your husband to let Copper in the house?! I'd love to do that if I could be a diaper on them. Lol

OK, since I'm already chatty this morning......I just ordered the "local Hens" cartons from The Egg Carton Store. They're $35 for 50 (.7 each) with free shipping. I like that they have the local hens information and room to put your own stamp or label. I'm trying to stop the $1 off return carton policy I stupidly offered when I started selling eggs! :th

Edited to add.....Oh, and I changed my profile picture because I like that a lot of you use your picture, nice to put a face to the poster. I own a wine bar, this is a picture for that business.

Great profile pic! Oh la la.. A wine bar you say? Haha just kidding

I ordered a box of 150 last year and still have 100 of them! I give a .25 discount. I made the mistake of not saying they have to be my cartons LOL.

I do not tell new people about the discount.

Great avatar picture!

I have a Blue Silkie, a Smooth Splash Sizzle, a Buff Orpington, a Buff Plymouth Rock, a bantam Buff Laced Polish, and a bantam Columbian Cochin. My girls are looking for call ducks too if anyone knows any one in the area who has some. They do 4H and want to try call ducks :)
Ohhh ducks? Fun! Amy Beth (Zooweemama) has ducks too! If you get some please post pics!

Finally have a minute to get on here today.. Hey peeps! Woah it's a hot day!

The chicks are doing great! They are such perfect little fluff balls.. And they're little piggies too! Little Pinkman (my special needs Basque) is still hanging on. She can't walk or eat but she drinks and takes her vitamins. She's lost all of her energy so now it's kinda a waiting game. I really hope she makes it by some miracle but we're not expecting it. I keep talking to her trying to convince her to keep fighting but I don't think that's working.

Here they are making a mess. I swear I just cleaned that brooder!! Piggies I tell ya!

Ron - I'm sorry the Pene's didn't hatch for you. What a bummer. I was really hoping for them!

Thank you for the update! Giving Pinkie a chance is all you can do.

With the basque, start looking for the ones with black feathers on the wings. I think those would be the males because they are barred more(have both Genes for barring?) The females will have white or grey.

I am working on my Azure Standard order and will be ordering:

The chicken wheat is a great replacement for scratch. It has around 12% protein.

I hope the Apricots make it--I need to make some Jam!

Apricot pineapple jam is yummy Ron!

I've made apricot pineapple, plum, triple berry, strawberry rhubarb and watermelon jam all in the last month. Still have stuff in the freezer! Blackberry is up next.

There is a canning thread here as well:

Thank you for the link!

I made lemon curd a couple of weeks ago and will be making Black Berry curd this week.

Apricot jam is one of my favorites. I planted a tree a couple of year ago but it won't be producing for several more.

Apricot Pineapple...I may make that one this time.
