Is the Calf Manna in pellet form? I'm thinking about switching to a pelleted layer food. Do the chickens have trouble adjusting? Seems like my girls will pick up and test just about everything!

Calf Manna is in pellet form, it's used for poultry, rabbits, deer and other livestock.

It says it can help reduce stress in stressful times.

Sometimes my hens won't eat it, but my roosters love it.

Do any of you vaccinate for Mareks?

Nope, not here. I want to breed only the resistant ones.

But if selling pet quality I would most likely vaccinate.

I also got a second for my mega sized arrangement.

Leave them on wire if they have wonky feet.  If it still doesn't fix itself,  I use  cut up furniture pads and tape or  band aids.  It seemed like the band aids on their own didn't  do it on quail, dunno why.

What types hatched??  I cant wait to see em!

I have paper towels over the wire in the incubator. I haven't taken them out yet but was planning on doing it tonight. Do you think I should take the paper towels off the wire and leave the ones with the messed up feet in there?

I have no idea what kind they are! Some look like little chipmunks and some are yellow. We've been so busy with our new chicks, our older chicks and all of our other animals to do research on quail. Their new mama (Johnny's sister) has been doing her research though

there are just so many fabulous kinds!  now i see how some of you have gotten up to 200+ chickens...  I've got six now, and four on order for a 8/15 hatch, BUT the breeder is unsure one of the breeds (the cream legbars) will have good enough hatching success -- so now i'm looking around at other possible chicks to get at the same time, and OMG there are way too many cool ones to consider.  how on earth am i going to keep this to a reasonable number?!?!

(of course the coop/run size is ultimately the limit, but i kind of overbuilt it, 8x4 henhouse inside 8x12 coop -- probably space for more chickens than i reasonably should have.)

Hmmm well if you have the room..? Lol! You could always sell the eggs or get into breeding to sell hatching eggs! I'm not helping am I? Haha

On left her yesterday around dinner time. Unable to hold her head up, barely opened her eyes, too weak to stand. Had to force med water on her drop by drop.
On right- this morning sipping water when I offer on her own. Looking perkier.

Just now. She was standing, staring at me and looking around, makes little chicken noises when I pet her and caught her pecking at her food.

We made it to the weekend! Woot woot!

Everyone's good at my house. We now have 9 quail hatched! I got to watch one hatch out of its shell.. It was amazing!!

The Spanish chicks are doing well. I've been putting both kinds of Save-A-Chick and apple cider vinegar in their water every day. How long should I do that for? I was thinking of stopping it tomorrow but don't know if that's too soon. When they go outside in a couple of weeks they'll have apple cider vinegar in their water again.

It's really cool to see that there are a couple of people here that are interested in Marraduna Basques! I would love to see everyone with this beautiful breed
