Good morning Everybody!
I wanted to post the link to my coop/s buildout. I built a hoop coop for my meat chickens and for grow outs. Now I'm building my pallet coop. It's 8x12x8. Pretty big!
Heres the link

Looks awesome!! We may try that for our grow-out pen. Thanks for posting pics!

I can't believe my DH is driving me to the Pleasant Valley Farm & Garden Supply located in Grass Valley today!

I'll probably get about 10 pounds of the seed mix like you did.

We'll spend as much in gas (as shipping) but hopefully it will be a pretty drive. Thank you for telling me about the Omega-3 seed mix. I can't wait to get it growing for my chickens!!
Aww what a great hubby you have! We just planted ours. Hope you had a good trip and enjoy the mix!

Meg - how are your quail doing? I have 2 here that you can add to your little flock if you would like. These were brought in to Lindsay (the wildlife rehab hospital where I volunteer) last Sunday - they were 1 or 2 days old at the time. Since they are domestic (probably Japanese/coturnix - Chiquita, what do you think?) we can't keep them at the hospital, so of course I brought them home, set them up in a little brooder with a heat lamp and their own little feather duster for a surrogate mama, and they are doing really well. I don't plan to set up a pen to keep quail, so these two need to move in someone who raises/keeps quail! You are welcome to them if you want them, but since there is about a one week age difference I would suggest waiting a little bit before adding them to your flock. If you don't want them, and someone else would like them, just let me know!

Please excuse the messy cage - I took these pics before cleaning the brooder this morning.
The quail are doing great! My boyfriend's sister is visiting now and will take them home tomorrow. I only had 8 hatch out of 26. I tried the dry incubation method without candling and don't think I did a great job. It was my first time so hopefully I do better the next time!

Thank you so much for the offer of the quail. I told Johnny's sister about them but she's going to stick with the ones she has. I really appreciate you thinking of me! The kids I nanny and I go to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum all of the time! We LOVE that place (and it's right down the street!)

Soooo Copper. :( I am not sure what is up. But he sounds congested. He is eating and drinking. Pretty perky. His poop is no longer lime green- I was getting so happy for him. I had read somewhere that during the crop cleaning procedure to be careful when flushing (wrong pipe could catch some fluid). It's the only thing I could think of? No one else is congested- just him. Hope is perky- very perky. Eating and drinking like a champ. Can a chicken get a resp infection from being stressed out? I am unsure of what to do right now. Since he was on the mend without the Corid- should I stop the Corid and offer Duramycin? Offer both at the same time...seems awfully harsh though? Cull him? Would this be infectious? He is in the garage away from ALL the other birds. He sounds so wet. It started yesterday later in the day- but it was minor. It's not minor today.

Thanks for your help guys!
Aww Amy Beth! I would use Duramycin but don't know if you can offer both that and Corid together. I tried googling it but can't find anything. I'll ask the knowledgable chicken lady at the feed store tomorrow if you don't get an answer. I wouldn't stop Corid yet though.
I am going to keep my eye on him but now Copper is not making that sound. I feel like I am going crazy. My husband heard it too. I sat with him for 5 minutes- no contested noises. So weird.
Hope seems to be doing wonderful. Found her perched prettily on the side of the tub around after supper. Silly. So I took her outside briefly for some fresh air. She was not interested in walking around though. She's not ready to join the flock - but all my kennels are being used by other birds and I have 3 kennels! Lol. So I only have a plastic tub. Hope she doesn't poop all over my bathroom tomorrow.

My goslings. Sarah in front and Chuck in back.
Hope everyone is enjoying the breeze tonight! Felt wonderful!
Excuse my typos. Sent from my iPhone.
Your goslings are soooo cute!!!!

Oh man. Diapers? haha Hopefully Hope is feeling right snazzy tomorrow. If I can keep her from pooping all over my bathroom during the day (not holding out 'hope' bwahaha- because she now will not stay in the bin)- I'd like to give her one more day to herself if I can. I should probably get a darn chicken diaper though for back up. I have 3 kennels. 3. That 'should' be enough right? But all 3 are being used lol. So Hope gets a tub. If we run into having to use up all the kennels- someone is gonna have to wear a diaper! LOL Although 2 of the kennels aren't for sickies. Just the quarantined EEs and my geese who still need a home built for them. ahhhh! Not enough hours in the day!
lol yeah we now have rain thunder and lightning...

Thanks! When I was at the feed store- the poor guy looked quite mystified and said the guy to talk to wouldn't be in until Tuesday. :| But oddly- I am not hearing the wet nose cough anymore.

Anyone want to see baby chick pictures?! They're one week old today and already getting tail feathers and wings! They also got their first treats today (dried mealworms) and are now on wood shavings. We're doing big things today! hahaha

I will have cream legbar chicks for sale around mid- September. If the girls keep laying like they are I will start sell hatching eggs early September after I've waited 30 days since separating them. I may sell a handful for cheaper earlier than that as I won't be positive about purity or I may just hatch and see what I get. I'm gonna set my first eggs in a week!! I've been getting 3 each day so I'm excited to start hatching. My Swedish flower hens are also laying. My cream legbars are from Jordan farms and sunny side farms a trio from each
