Jeff how are your birdies today?? Maybe it was just heat + smoke? It's been a yucky summer for sure! This stuff has happened to me...a bird with a runny nose...then suddenly gone and no one gets sick. Give them fresh water and the sun goes down and they all perked back up. So maybe the smoke hit'em hard?

Those are Jen C's birds. She posted recently on here. Her birds are super nice quality. I have some of them. One of them is in my Avatar.

Should I?

hehe (i recently learned my husband really likes wide lacing pattern) I saw these and thought they would look so pretty. Maybe I could beg someone to hatch a few eggs from them for me...

Self control, Amy or go get'em? hehe

I'm emailing them right now. hehe My hubby said they were pretty...and for him to say that about a chicken...well...I'm emailing haha!

That's his favorite pattern. He really loves the wide lacing feather pattern. He really perks up when he sees that pattern. I can tell he likes the full sized laced Wyandottes, so I know he will love these little ones. I wanted to add a couple bantam and this is a nice inexpensive way of trying them out. :)

Amy Beth,
I have LF BLRW juveniles that I will likely be selling some pairs of soon if you might be interested in those. I've been surveying my grow out coop and am finding I may need to sell some of my birds to get to more manageable numbers. :)

My stock are from Shannon at die fly ranch.

Just in case.... :)

Free range question...for those of you that have more than 2 coops for 2+ breeds- do they know which coop to go back into? Or do you make them take turns free ranging? Or they just go into whatever coop and you don't care as long as they don't?

They will go back to their coop, as long as you do not move it too far(for tractor coops).

You can program them to stay in a different coop.

You leave them in the coop for three days and then they will go back to it.

I hope this make sense!

Wow! You have gotten some super good deals on kennels!!!

OMG, I scored yesterday.

Two years ago, I was given a 6x6 pen from freecycle. I was in Mexico and messing around in my email, saw the offer and asked the person to hold it until I got home from vacation. I added the panels to existing walls in a shed and made a great indoor growout pen.

I follow craigslist to keep my eye out for wire/cyclone dog kennels to make pens. A year ago, I got one of the 5x10 AKC ones like they were selling at Costco for $400. The woman was moving and sold it for $150. I was happy, we extended the size by adding a raised coop.

A couple of months ago, I bought a 6x12 cyclone pen for $100. It had a few rough spots, but the price was right and we could fix it. We only needed to add it to some existing fence, so I ended up with an 6x25 ft pen for my turkeys and was able to use two panels for the roof.

A month ago, I bought 10 panels, 6 6x14, 2 6x6, 1 6x6 w/gate, 1 6x8 w/gate and they threw in an extra stand alone gate for $300. We were able to configure it into 4 pens by buying one extra gate panel at HD.

I said, okay, I'm done, I don't need any more pens.

Yesterday morning, I said I'm going to keep watching craigslist and only go for exceptional deals............... I decided to check while DH was outside mowing.

I found a 6x12 foot pen, with a panel for the roof, sloped for drainage. It's all welded pipes, super heavy, squared corners and in perfect condition. They sell new for $600+. I came across the ad 23 minutes after it was posted. I made DH stop mowing and dash down the hill to pick it up before it was gone. An hour later it was in our truck and on it's way up the hill. She was only asking $150. You have to move exceptionally fast on those offers. I know, I've missed out on several.

I have GOT to stop checking the ads, I know, I was already looking this morning. My excuse is the neighbor asked me to watch for him, he does GSD rescue and needs a couple.

Thanks for asking. Yeah, they all seem fine. I hiwever left the misters on all night and managed to soak the feed in one of the pens. But everyone is laying well and looking active and healthy so all seems well. :)

Plus, not as smokey this morning which was nice!

That's so awesome! I wish I spotted these deals! LOL

Oh even more awesome that someone can vouch for her. I am still getting used to being ok with CL. I know I am silly.

Oh my gosh my ignorance is about to hit an all time high- but what is LF BLRW? LF Bantam Laced R Wyandotte? LOL I might be interested in some bantams. I would like to have a couple bantam layers for my MIL. She has high cholesterol and eating 2 little eggs would be such a nice 'mind trick' but help her watch her numbers. Not to mention - they are so cute to watch running around.

I was hoping to hear this. :D Thanks!
I go with taking turns, but I have 23 pens

I am so glad. I always get worried and have a semi-panicked moment when something happens to mine. I love this group. You can come here and sort of let some of the panic go and even get helpful answers!
