I need help with my BYC thread subscriptions. I did not have problems with the new format until a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly, I stopped receiving email notifications for all of my subscribed threads. I've checked the settings and they are all correct. Has anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

Whenever I have problems with notifications, I log out and then log back in. I think the database software gets confused sometimes.

I am having notification problems too. The site will likely be rebooted soon and we will see the Sky is Falling screen.

Hello Everyone! I have been away from the forum for the last few weeks. I just adopted my first Turken "Translyvanian Naked Neck" from our local feed store. She /he is a young pullet I am not sure of the age or gender. I was wondering if anyone has any guesses? I named the little guy "Morticia".

Sorry, I can't comment on the latest issues, I'm sorry that you've had so many. Can't say I've heard of anyone with as many ill birds as you've gone through.

I doubt it could be a parasite overload, I don't think your birds are old enough to have issues. Birds can live with parasites without any noticable symptoms for quite some time. I hope when you get back the results on the necropsy, you can find out exactly what you are dealing with.

You telling me. I have a mini library of chicken books, I have done a ton of online research, scoured BYC...the chickens get fresh water daily- I even installed nipple waterers that get fed fresh water 24/7. They eat Flockraiser, mixed with crimped oats (3 parts FR to 1 part oats), they get fed organic produce scraps 4+ times a week (there are 23 chickens out there right now so a plate of lettuce with a chopped tomato doesn't go all that far). They are let out of the coop around 8am and put themselves to bed around 8pm. I have gotten birds from 3 sources: nearly all of them from 1 breeder, 2 EEs from Ron and a pair of bantams from CL (who are still in quarantine on my back porch from when I got them like 3 weeks ago lol). I was having issues before Ron's EEs and actually the EEs are super duper vigorous and healthy and have been since I brought them home. ALL the other chickens have come from a single source. I don't visit other peoples farms.

I think that's the second time you've said that to me. I'm starting to feel guilty that I have done something wrong to make my chickens sick. I guess we wait for the necropsy.

Hi Amy,

I am sorry these guys are sick again. Someone posted about a rare type of Cocci that made some of the older chickens sick. You could even be dealing with something left over from the previous owners flock. Ivermectin kills the parasites quickly. If she does not perk up today, either wait for the Necropsy report(shipped on Monday, the report should get to you Thursday of next week). Corid would not hurt and you have waited a couple of days since the wormer so that might help.

It could be Mareks. If so, there is no treatment just time, nutrition, vitamins and prayer. Most chickens recover from the initial Mareks infection. It is good that you separated her.

Thanks Ron! My mil has Mondays off so getting to the FedEx place won't be an issue. Plus my dog has a vet visit- so I am out anyway. The rest of the chickens are perky, active, seem normal sized...the chickens that are having issues are all from the same batch it seems. I'm not overly stressed. There isn't a lot I can do. Whatever it is- so far is not 'sweeping' through the flock. It's been bothering only those same chickens for a few weeks. No new ones. I had hoped it was a pecking order issue since as I said no other chickens were having issues then or now. I look forward to the necropsy results.

Can anyone help me identify this little chicks sex or breed please? I got 4 6-8 week old blue orpingtons maybe a little under a month ago. All pullets. The littlest one, probably the 6 weeker, now about 9 weeks is looking different than the rest. Is this just how the roosters begin to look? The rest of the 3 look like the one here on the left and the one in question is on the right.

They look like Blue Wyandottes, like mine!

S/he has a little beard and a pea type comb, so maybe something with Ameraucana in it? EE or Olive Egger maybe? Pretty color!

Yes, I agree with above. The one that looks "different" has muffs and a pea comb. Since you don't know the breeding for sure (not an Orp), you'd have to call it an Easter Egger, unless the breeder raises blue Ameraucana.

Also, at 9 weeks, I'd be suspicious the other bird is actually a roo. That's an awful lot of color and wattle development for a young pullet. If they all look the same, they may all be cockerels. For your sake, I hope not (since you wanted girls), maybe it's just the photo.

Im not for sure but I think they might've had blue americuanas too. But I can't remember for sure. I'll get pics of the rest... Brb

it looks similar to both my blue ameraucana and my Olive egger ( lavender ameraucana x barnevelder)
