California - Northern

I only know of NN genes through my showgirls, but usualy that much wattle would be a boy. But I'm sure the silkie genes make the wattles on my girls more subtle. He is so cute however, looks like little iggy! Ill have to post a shot of baby iggs.

Zoo, do you know if the people living at your house before you had chickens? I'm wondering if there is something in your soil. And how are the duck eggs going? are you dredging the pond for extra eggs?

We went to the passport weekend in Lodi Saturday, it was heavenly. That place is my new favorite wine destination.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

I am debating selling my icelandic flock to make room for yet another Penedesenca breed I am getting. I should have a trio of Black Penedesenca coming in the next month or two.
I have 2 roosters and 3 hens ( they all mingle with my Ameraucana , easter egger and olive egger hens.
I would like to keep them but am limited on the space.
If anyone is interested pm me

One of my favorite places for wine. What winery were you at? Sad news, the sick Marans chick I got last week died. I hope the rest are OK. Then one of my 4 week old WCB Polish (one of the nicest) drowned in a small water tub today. They've been drinking out of this water tub since they were tiny. Not sure why it got stuck in it today.

Today before football started hubby added more chicken wire around the pig pen. I put my lav girls and the rest of my CL flock in there. they are getting big fast and need more space. still trying to see how many roos I have, i think 3 for sure and 1 lav orp is a roo. he is a keeper and I think 2 marans are roos only 1 i can keep. now hoping they make it through the night in their new home okay. they have been in there all day today. the ducks fly in the trees above the pen and roost for the night. its a community house out there, LOL. :)

Hello Everyone! I have been away from the forum for the last few weeks. I just adopted my first Turken "Translyvanian Naked Neck" from our local feed store. She /he is a young pullet I am not sure of the age or gender. I was wondering if anyone has any guesses? I named the little guy "Morticia".
Congrats! I don't have NN's, can't help you on sexing. If it's a male, you should see saddle feathers coming in soon.

Heres the 3 real blue Orps lol

Do I have a few boys in this group?

All pullets. By that age, cockerels have bigger combs. Orps can be tricky to sex. Here's a splash cockerel at 8 weeks.

Can anyone help me identify this little chicks sex or breed please? I got 4 6-8 week old blue orpingtons maybe a little under a month ago. All pullets. The littlest one, probably the 6 weeker, now about 9 weeks is looking different than the rest. Is this just how the roosters begin to look?

The rest of the 3 look like the one here on the left and the one in question is on the right.

The Orp in the first picture here might be a male, if it's only 6 weeks old. As for the EE, she's a pullet.

First we stopped at Bella Piazza, we had 8 wine club bottles to pick up, then had a quick lunch at their member's pasta lunch. Then we met up with friends at Helwig, had 3 bottles to pick up there. Since we (and our neighbors) are charter members we had a private wine tasting. Then we moved to the patio (gorgeous view) and had snacks and a few bottles of wine amongst the 11 of us. We were supposed to stop at Villa Toscano (needed to pick up 8 wine club bottles there too), but it was too late.

Sorry about the loss of your chicks and it always seems to be the one you have the hopes pinned on them.
