I'm onsite today ron. Dh said he got her to drink a little. He is going back at lunch to see her again. She has energy to complain and try and get away when I handfeed her so that is something.

6 girls~3 boys....time for the Happy Dance!
these 2 girls don't leave the front yard they are so low maintance i don't think of taking care of them like the others. they are in their own little world out front. I hope mom hen will be ok and going to put last chick on meds just incase. and watch them this weekend. thanks for all you help and answers. this is such a awesome forum, i love being on here everday now
Wow. Sounds nice. I don't know much about how the Siskiyou Golden Fair runs it's shows, but from what I've read in the rules handbook, the small animal shows are restricted to kids, 19 and under. Which kind of sucks. I'd like to show chickens, but I'm 30, so I'm well over the age limit. I don't know if its 4-H members, but I suppose being over the age limit renders that a moot point.I'd rather not read 452 posts!![]()
Phew! I'm finally back!

Crazy last weekend. Set up tent on a Wednesday. Brought chickens to fair check-in on Thursday evening. Raced back to them on Friday morning because clean stall award judges start judging at 8:00am. Took care of every bird. Camped that night. Construction workers started work at 11:40pm and ended 12:56am.
Saturday- woke up, went to the barn with bag of whites. (4H uniform) Took care of the chickens. Studied the APA and ABA Standards for half an hour. Watched Primary, Novice and Intermediate showmanship.
Then Advanced showmanship (my class) started and I used my BB red OEGB bantam hen. Won the tie-breaker between my sister and I and I was going to Round Robin (show off your knowledge on animals: dogs, cavies, rabbits, and chickens).
Poultry show started (Saturday still). Sister got Champion Clean Legged Large fowl with her Black Ameraucana cock-bird. I got Reserve Champion Clean Legged Bantam with my BB Red OEGB cock-bird. Went to Parade of Champions that evening.
Camped that night- slept well.
Sunday- Round Robin. So cold. The Rabbit kept biting me. Didn't get results until later.
Still Sunday- was M/C at Fair awards ceremony. Called up with other kids for Round Robin results. 2nd place on my first time doing Round Robin! The girl who showed me how to do Cavy showmanship (and I taught her poultry) got 1st.![]()
Then we went home that evening... chickens and everyone. Still feels like it should be fair. haha!
