California - Northern

Yay my image made it into the calendar! Woohoo! My little Easter Eggers from Ron! haha!

Congratulations, it was a great shot.............looks like the girls out gossiping.

I made the picture extra small. They used to remove the head and feet. I've been saving the feet when I process my birds. It's supposed to make the absolute best stock because of all the cartilage. They are VERY easy to peel when you scald them, it takes seconds. Peel em, and cut off the end of the toes with the nails.

I made the dead chicken dance, do yoga stretches etc. Ahh sick sense of humor. I don't know where it comes from. The dark side of Amy? What did you do over there? I gotta know now! hehe

I'm the same way. After you remove the foot, if you grab the end of the tendon with a pair of pliers, you can pull and release and make them wave. They make a great addition to a Halloween party menu, fried feet.

Got this pic of my hen...she really didn't want to have her pic taken. She's all spooky because she hardly has any feathers left, LOL. Moulting must itch!!!!

I think she might be a bit cold....her belly is nothing but a pin feathers.

Her daughter on the other hand is looking pretty good.

So nervous. I am having a Sulmtaler rooster shipped to me from Arizona. First time I am having an adult bird shipped. So nerve racking but what's one to do? I have two Sulmtaler girls and no boy. Hope the weather cooperates as this boy ain't ever seen rain. LOL
Just one chicken?
you should see if they they can send you hens box cost and shipping should be the same
what was the shipping on the one?
congrats on that.

Ron, your photos on the CA thread made me smile, even though they were depicting a sad situation for the chickens.

I posted on the CA thread about me shipping off my chickens to be butchered, yesterday, at New American Poultry. I wanted to show how they came back-didn't want to offend anyone on that thread-so thought I would post the pic here. Warning-it's gross!

EEEEEeeewwwwww! LOL! I don't think that I can eat these! They're lookin at me! They even still have the leg bands on ROTFLOL!
looks like a bunch of rubber chickens.
freeze them and hand them out at halloween to trick o treaters

I'm looking for a breeder for Belgian Cuckoo Malines ( Meshels).
Recognized in 1898. They were bred in the USA once imported. The bird is a good dual purpose bird that makes a good table bird because the extra down allows the fat to be distributed thru the meat instead of just under the skin.
I saw that they are still bred in Belgium and the Netherlands and in the UK and that there may be aCalifornia breeder.
Do any of your folks here know where I could acquire eggs or hatch?

Samson and one of the big girls. :D

This pic cracks me up.

This is the Easter Eggers. LOL SEE?? Still together!

I tried to get some shots of Samson for Craigslist. I couldn't think of what to get exactly. Do any of these images do a decent job showing off his goods?

After they grow their feathers back in, they have to get their body weight back up before they have the reserves to make eggs. My flock averages about 3 months for molting - some are a bit quicker, some a bit slower.
Alright, I'll admit with the heads, that is pretty creepy. I prefer mine headless, but the feet don't bother me.
Ok thanks! I will just let her be then. Like I could do anything other than anyway, bahaha!
