Can I play guess the breed too?
Hi kind of looks like a Golden Legbar. His legs are the wrong color but:
I would guess something crossed with a Leghorn, so could be Rhodebar too.

I also got a package of Hatching Eggs today. I am hatching Partridge Penedesencas for Cooper12. Jason had them shipped to me in Woodland. For eggs, the local hop I have is pretty good. These eggs went straight to the Sac Airport and then to West Sac. From there they went to Woodland.
The eggs actually have aircells! and I did not see any floaters in the eggs.

it may be the light as well. the wheaten eggs I got awhile back where not that dark either. they can wash out late in the season. the real dark eggs look like they are from younger chickens. the liter ones may of been in a cooler. she said she got them all Monday and Tuesday though![]()

nice !!!!! wow some of them look really lite for penedesenca eggs.I like those dark ones though...

The lighter colored ones are huge eggs. The darker ones are smaller and narrower, so I think you are correct about the age and end of laying cycle. The big light ones will probably hatch better. I read that eggs from two year old chickens hatch better than little old pullet eggs.
Go Chickies! Hatch! Hatch! Hatch!![]()

I googled that and this is one of the images that came back.I am not sure. he has not filled out because he is young. He does have that upright stance though. He does look Crele though to me. No argument here was just a guess.

There very well may be some Game in there, but the comb is very Leghorn and big for 6 months. The Game in the picture has a very different comb. He is great looking. I hope he is friendly?

Penedesenca rareness guideI think I guessed Rhodebar too, I think so we might be closing in on this guy breed.
But Im just having a feeling hes not purebred.
Good Guess Ron!
That's awesome the eggs are in great shape! Sent some Good hatching vibes your way!
Do they lay dark eggs usually?
I like how the birds look in general. Just real interesting. And their pretty rare right? I like rare birds.
Should I jump in on the pene action?? I love the partridge patterning anyway.

The eggs should look like the dark ones when they start laying. Pullet eggs will be dark like that but they get lighter through the laying cycle. Then the hen will molt and when she starts laying again the eggs will be dark. My big girls and the two that hatched in December are molting now. When my blue marans starts up again, she will be back to dark orangeish eggs.
Depending on the rooster, the eggs laid by the hens in the light eggs could be dark. The darker colored eggs could have light egg layers.
we will have to wait and see.![]()
Partridge Penes are rare and Ultra Heat Hardy. Perfect for where you live.
