oh Jeff how wonderful!
Thanksgiving babies are the best. You have a lot of people around for your birthday to celebrate, but don't get presents combined!

When I was in Australia I seriously considered getting a degree in midwifery, but when I came back to the states it was so different here i didn't go into it.

I wondered where you had been lately. I bet you don't keep that one in the Barn! :lau

My Youngest was born at home. We had the water tub but she wound up being born on the bed. It was an amazing experience!

How Awesome...
I wish I had mine at home. My DH wouldn't go for it :(
He was CHICKEN! LOL

I was without internet for five days! finally getting all caught up. And of course, here I am reading BYC and I am once again hungry!! I'm gonna have to stop reading this after 10pm. :-)

updates here, got four amazing tolbunt polish from cheryl and 2 jubilee roos. Yay! Thx! My whole family has already fallen in love with the polish. they are so fun and cute and surprisingly docile for what I was expecting. they are the new favorite chicken to watch.

i'm winding up my last hatches for a bit. Yay! And I discovered that the barn isn't a great place for me to brood my chicks. I was having quite a few losses then moved the next batches to the garage and had 1 loss in like 100 chicks and it was just weak from hatch and never really took off. I also changed my brooder style and used an old crib to make into a brooder. I'll have to take a pic. Sad use of a crib but no on will take them as donations so they are easy to get for free. :-)

Oh, and most importantly, we had our baby! Zachariah David born on wednesday. 7 lb, 8 oz. healthy happy little dude!!

now off to find some food! :-) Happy post thanksgiving!
He is so beautiful! Congrats to you and your whole family!

Well, I've been away for quite a while. Been very busy, so I can only be on for a limited time.

Congratulations Papabrooder!!!

HappyChooks-- While scanning through the 800+ posts, I came across one of your posts with the keywords "mozzarella cheese" in it. Now the ads on BYC are giving me Kraft jalapeno mozzarella cheese ads....

Anyway,
I got rid of my unwanted, fat, food guzzling, red Dorking roo yesterday.

What a relief! Now I have just 8 roos!

I wonder if my chickens will be out " singing in the rain"

Do you think it will be bad enough to keep them locked up tomorrow? I think I will since Yolo County has a flood warning in effect.

Otherwise I might need my rake to fish them out from under the coop!

One of my nice Heritage RIRs was out in the back yard this evening so I guess she figured out how to get over the fence. I need to work on that. She let me pick her up and put her back in the side yard. She is very calm and dignified. Not like the Leghorns and the Penes LOL.
