So my babies are 2-1/2 weeks (about), and the wing feathers are coming in nicely, I am seeing a few hints of the breast feathers, but those aren't clear yet,
so far, 1 looks white/black mottled like its Dad, 1 looks like a silver ginger like its Mom***, and one is a total oddball- brown......I'm guessing he/she might be taking after Gramps?
Given the parents, would it be at all possible to assume the mottled is then a cockerel? and the silver ginger is then a pullet?????
I know, I know, .... they are Seramas, the masters of disguise... I'm sure they will all turn out to be blues or wheatens in 3 more months!!!
Gotta love the surprises! Anyhow, no matter how they turn out, I'm happy to report that all my hatchlings are thriving. That is the most important thing to me. My tiniest still gets pasty, but I check them all at least twice a day, and I have two more sets of eyeballs that help me.
So hey... I LOVE
Jerry's Honey Mustards... how do you make that color??? Gurus??? Gumbii?? I don't have enough $$ to order Sig's genetics book yet, but I did order the Serama Colours book for now. It will have to hold me over for a while. That other book sounds really cool. Does anyone have it yet? I really am a nerd
... I totally want to know the equations that make the colors that we see. I love that kind of stuff. The chicken colors calculator is neat, but I want to start at the very bottom, and dig my way out! Any other recommendations for books is appreciated!
**YAY, I finally figured out what color she was based on all the pics posted over the last few weeks!!!
