Do they have feathered feet?? LOL I'd love to see a pic. I bet that is an interesting combo!

They have silkie extra toes and the feathering on the feet, single combed, and I think the feathers may be silkied but can't say 4sure yet. They are black and white from the lacing but can't tell if the pattern will show up or not. I'm holding on cause I wanna see what they turn into, at least featherwise. I'm too curious

, I definitely do not need any more chickens, especially mutts. But..... they are cute

well i feel a bout with depression coming on and am just at a loss as to what to do.

i have had my fair share of set backs with serama but its begining to take its toll on me and am just at a point of ???? i dont wanna say it

i went to put eggs on lock down in the second incubator and decided while doing so to candle each one..... depressing i think they died again some where about 2 or 3 days ago.

i dont believe im wrong and am hoping and praying i am.....i have been told that an egg past 14 days you should not be able to candle and see thru it.....i can see thru about 1/2 to a 1/3 of the egg....am i wrong to assume they are dead? they are due to hatch between saturday night and sunday morning.....i just am tired of this i am constantly tweaking things accoording to advice, reading and educating myself.... and if i am right that will make a total of 72 incubated eggs and not one hatch for me.....id say i have probably a world record? or just the worst luck in the world..... broody has 2 fertile eggs im seriously hoping and praying i do not know what else to do:idunno:he:hit

its my second one its a brand new hovabator genesis that everyone swears by.....its not my incubator or eggs wouldnt be reaching 14 days or so

The fat end of my eggs are clear for about the first 1/4 to 1/3ish. Then dark. I saw one wiggling yesterday, the other not, but I'm going to leave them both at least until Monday. There is supposed to be a clear spot for the air sac. The entire egg isn't dark, or at least it wasnt' for me? Hang in there Bill. I wouldn't toss them out now.

You should be able to see the air sac..which can be 1/2 to 1/3 of the egg. If your light is fairly strong (I use a mini mag flashlight) and the room is very dark, you should be able to see them moving! Very cool and a sure sign of life. Best of luck.

don't be discouraged bill... just try and try again... you'll get it right... but, if you want to end the tweeking and such, i suggest getting a digital thermostat... i use a ronco type thermostat to control the temp in my DIY bator... i paid 50 dollars for it used... but i've seen some great ones on some websites for about that much brand new... and that are a lot better than mine... just get the fan upgrade, and ditch the wafer...

if you're having humidity problems, well, you can check out the hatching forum... they have great write ups on hovabators...

thanks i have a digital thermometer/hydromemter in there temp is alway 99.9 everytime i look even after i replaced batteries and checked it was working by putting it in the fridge LOL

im gonna leave the lil suckers in the hatching bator and cross my fingers.....maybe im unsure what im looking at and am over reacting but after 65 failures one can understand how i feel at this point.

also i read vitamin e apparently is good for chickens and egg vitality does anyone know more about this?

I made a fancy-delux egg candler.....take a 1# coffee can [empty of course

] Cut a hole in the bottom so that an egg can sit in it. Put some foam on the edge of the hole and stick a 75 watt bulb in the can, add a dark room and VOILA!
Works great in the best part is its cheep....
