I saw a really neat idea for shade. Its pvc pipe and a shower curtain. Im like HEY i can use that as a top for my chicken pen. That or tarps or one im concidering is that camo cargo netting. Its too expencive to put actualy fencing over the top. Were a one income household right now threw my mom. And shell be on disablity soon for back surgery then she gets put on the transplant list for a kidney. Anyways i used to think the hawks needed room to swoop down and take off. Oh heck no they dont! I had tarps in the bigger area of the pen and string in the small gaps. I almost caught the little bugger but it flew till it found a gap landed on the string and took off. There safer free roaming expecially since if i penned them the coyotes could jump in the current pen and have all you can eat buffet. But not having a closed in pen will be an issue soon once my chicks are older. I have 15 chicks about a little over a month old. There ok niw but i need my handyman to get his butt in gear and quit farting around. I HAD the money for it months ago and he wasted time till i had none left. Then when the coyotes attacked he had the nerve to show up and say i told you so. Like are you KIDDING ME your the one who took his sweet time but when you found the trailer you wanted i forked over $2000 (deal was manual labor for a trailer) ya i got screwes only project hes finished is my dog fence which took 2 weeks. But hes a good guy but at the same time i want to smack hum around a bit. I have all the parts for him to finish the chicken pen except for a few poles and cement. He seems to think he needs 12 packs of 90 pound cement. Im like dude you dont need a huge hole filled with a ton of cement to hold in a little pole. Hes using too much for a chicken pen. Its not like our dog pen the chickens arent going to jump and break it down.

And yes if theres a big enough gap for the chickens to stick there heads out the hawks will tease them until they do and then grab there necks. My bantams were in the dog pen but there heads and neck were on the outside when it killed them. Still intact just a broken neck or punctured.

Question if i order these eggs do you think my grey andilusian can sit on them all? And if i do would anyone in here want any? I probably wouldnt keep more than 3. He says hes been having a very sucessful hatch rate

My FIRST question is: Can you legally have roosters???? I just HATE when peoples hatch and then cry: What do I do with the roosters?
Please think about that

Legally no i cant have roos. But it doesnt stop me. Animal control cant do there job about the agressive dog next door or the backyard breeders accross the street. I called 3 years ago in august abiut the neighbors dog and them tying one up in there front yard that was dirty and matted. They STILL havnt shown. So im at the f u point. My neighbor two doors down didnt even know i have chickens. I have no one behind my house. And i have a guy i take my roos too when i get too many. I once bought 6 bantams... no joke FIVE were males. A guy called wes feed shop..or is it petes anyways he takes them as donations. And rehomes them to ppl who can have them. He makes sure they wont be fought or eaten. Ive probably taken...8 or more roos to him?

Its Wes's Pets and Feed and yes he will take roos, I know them well.

It is just a matter of time before some idiot whines about a roo of yours :(, I know that too well also :(

Before I moved to Riverside, I used to rehome ALL the roos that came into the Baldwin Park shelter, a very hard job and WHY make more roos to add to the overabundance of roos now. I am NOT a fan of hatching eggs as you can tell....
