Cue the crickets!Perhaps not as lively as the previous discussion of the Ameraucana pullet...I have a 10 month old Lavender Ameraucana roo who would be interested in his own flock of girls. He currently runs with a more dominant Cream Legbar rooster and that breeding group.
They all get along fine, but I don't have a breeding program for the Lavender Ameraucana, so if anyone else could use him, I'd be happy to rehome him. He's utterly non-aggressive to people.
LOL....Cue the crickets!
We put white Christmas lights out around the run. They still go into the coop when the sun goes down. But we are getting 60% to 80% from 13 hens. What are people's lay rights right now? Mine slowed way down in Nov/Dec due to light and molt, I have lights in their coop but that didn't seem to help much, if at all. I have a BUNCH of chickens, need to sell some LOL, most are under 4 months so I don't expect them to be laying. But I have 5 that are about 1.5 years old and proven, some of the young ones are their chicks, and another 10 that are 7 to 8 months old and are at point of lay (waddles/comb have been red for about 6 weeks, roosters are breeding them, etc). Even assuming a few of the 10 aren't quite ready to lay, I have at least 10 total that are, but I'm only getting 2-3 eggs a day. I figured it was because it's winter, but I've been talking to a few other people who are getting a 50-80% lay rate already.
So what are people's lay rates right now, and are you using any supplemental lighting?
