Blue leather sofa bed. $10
Makes an excellent double guest bed.
BUT
The leather is worn and there are small 2 tears in seat. Could be repaired if so inspired/talented or use a blanket to cover seat (like we did). Leather could do with moisturizing too.
Great if you are a student and wants a cheap couch/bed, or are someone who just needs a couch. Also useful for BARRICADING THE DOOR IN THE EVENT OF THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.
TOTALLY FUNCTIONAL and a steal for $10!!
You will need some means of taking it away. Will fit in truck or Honda odyssey minivan. If you are a student in San Diego YOU WILL HAVE A FRIEND WITH A MOM WITH A HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN!! They are endemic in San Diego.

Do you have to be NPIP to ship chicks? I have heard yes and I have heard no. Any advise?

I think you have to be NPIP to ship eggs or chicks across state lines, and to ship chicks even in state. Certainly most eggs seem to be shipped without a NPIP certificate, with little issue. Chicks may be a different matter.

Joshua Tree is indeed close by! We have coyotes, but they seem to leave us alone because (or in spite of) our dogs...we have 4 at present, all rescues, but 2 of them are almost 14 yrs old so they don't really care about much other than eating and sleeping anymore, lol! We have a huge laurel tree in our backyard so I was going to have my son put the coop there and then I plan to order a chicken run so they aren't getting out of the fence all the time (it's a cyclone fence so it will be breechable, I'm afraid). I will definitely give the watering down the sand a few times a day a try - we already have a kiddie pool for the dogs, so we can just keep that filled with a bit of clean water for them as well. We have a small pond but there is a turtle and a bunch of koi in it and I don't know if it would be a good idea to let them intermingle as the fish are a dirty bunch and the turtle doesn't help anything. We are already attached and the girls (I'm hoping they're all girls!!) are all named already, so I am certain it won't be long before the chickens are running the house like everything else we have does! Thank you for the suggestions - we are very green at all of this so any advice is a plus!!
While shade is critical, an avian vet suggested misters to me as a good system should reduce the temperature by about 10°F.

I have found that it is important to set them high enough, or the pressure low enough, to not saturate the ground in the coop/run; if used correctly the mist should evaporate before it hits the ground. With your heat that shouldn't be a problem.

However there are a number of problems that can precipitate from a wet area. A simple example is the water releases the ammonia in the poo which will cause respiratory and eye problems. For those same reasons, it helps to have a covered run in addition to the coop. Maybe we really will have an El Nino this year?

I'm glad to hear you will keep the chickens separate from the turtles and fish. There are enough possible problems without introducing salmonella (no offense to your other pets).

Also, if you think the coyotes will be digging around your coops and runs, there are a few different options to help deter their efforts.

If she keeps her coops clean the ammonia problem should be fine. I rake mine out daily.like I said I lived in this desert for almost 8 years now and never had a problem. My only problem is coyotes.

I use misters on a timer in the run and never had an issue here in the AV with getting wet. I also do not make them sleep in the coop so they cool off at night I just have some higher perches. Some still sleep in the coop but some nights it really dosent cool off. But watch those coops coyotes are determined and easily jump our 6ft perimeter fence

The Pomona Meet-Up will be Saturday, May 31st at my home. I will likely put out some light fair, ice water and iced tea. Feel free to bring something to add to the table. Carriebain has a handful of great chicks available from the Easter hatch. You can see the ad at the link below.

Dogs are welcome, so long as they are friendly. I have a large covered patio and a large grassy backyard as well as a long driveway, so we have plenty of room.

Have any wares for sell?? Bring them!

Doors will open at 10 am.

If you are interested in attending, please PM me for the address.

My daughter is turning four that day. Her birthday party is 7295 miles West of Pomona so I will miss meet up.

I have ten pound hanging feeders available at $10 each and 30 egged plastic flats at $2 each or3 for $5 available. Maybe I can get them there through Carrie if anybody wants
