100F today and no one was home so my dad stopped by to check on the birds for me. He was so excited about checking on the birds he went above and beyond and checked the egg boxes too. He texted me in his excitement! He found EIGHT EGGS and brought them inside for me.

I have only six hens so....

Yup. I got home and found eight wooden and ceramic eggs sitting proudly in a little basket on the counter.

Oh dad.

That is hilarious!!!

These are some GORGEOUS birds!!!! *sigh* I really wish I could have a Roo where I live!

Thank you!! They were all so beautiful!!! But they have all been sent to the feed store. I found someone that is going to send me the name of a place that will take my roos and process them for $2 per bird. If I have any ugly ones, that's what I'll do.

Why is it that the boys are so much prettier, but also so much LOUDER????

Pass on that info if you like how they operate, please! Looking for someone to process before I start hatching since I don't have equipment nor the hutzpah to get it done :-/

Hey everyone,

There's a guy on my local Facebook chickens and farming page who is selling his ENTIRE flock because he has to move for work. He's very upset he has to lose his girls and wants them all to stay together. It's a mixed, all hen flock of seven large fowl breeds that are a year and a half old. He's asking $150/obo. I feel terrible for the guy but no one I know wants to take on seven birds. Anyone here willing? I'll put you in contact with him.

He's in Bonsall, CA.

breeds:
Brown leghorn, speckled Sussex, golden lace Wyandotte, Delaware, RI White, golden Sussex, and silver lace Wyandotte

So glad when its a happy ending! Bad enough that he had to get rid of all his birds...but must feel better that they are all together

LOL! I spend enough time on BYC!

But I love being connected to chicken people!

The page he posted to is a Fallbrook group so it's literally just my neighbors, all within a few miles of each other. Which is great because I get to meet the locals. Lived in this town twenty years but I'm so anti social I never met anyone. But now... Lots of people! It's great :D

I was really worried for him, he was asking about a month ago and his move date is really soon now. So glad it all worked out. Breathe.

I am trying to sell some Silver laced Wyandottes for a friend. He has 4 hens ranging in age from 13 months to 18 month and a beautiful rooster. All the hens are laying. He decided he just wants to raise Brahmas and would like this group to stay together. He is asking $75 for all 5 birds. They are currently in Thousand Oaks.

I'm not surprised he chose Brahma over Wyans. Wyans according to MyPetChicken have a tendency toward domination while Brahmas are generally considered gentle giants. Gotta say though - Wyans are a beautiful bird but I never got them around my docile Silkies. A lot of people love the beautiful Wyans so I hope they find a good home - nice young flock too.

I also have ceramic eggs in my nesting boxes and playing the waiting game. My hens are really close, so I'm hoping to find a real egg soon. Should I leave the fake eggs in the boxes after they are laying eggs regularly?

Thanks!

-E
