CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

I posted some pictures on the Northern California Thread of some of my new chickens. I hatched three Crested Cream Legbars last weekend. I now have three pullets and two Cockerels. I will get some pictures of them later. I will have Heritage RIRs and Show Quality Partridge Rocks hatching this weekend.

Pictures are Here:

It's year of the cuckoos! Last year I hatched a bunch of blues. This year I have been hatching lots of Cuckoo's. Funny pic

I wonder if you can do sexlinks. It works with other breeds, why not polish, you just need a black rooster, male chicks will come out with the spot on their head and females all black. I wonder what that spot would look like on a polish...

Last month, 9 days ago to be exact I posted about my mom. I lost her on April 22, 2012. Today is the 2 year mark of losing my dad. I didn't find him till I was 41, but we just picked up from there and he was a great supporter and so much fun. My family doubled in size. I ended up being the oldest of 11 and not 7 and had living grand parents and still have my grandmother. I found out my dad was sick on our way home from my mom's service. Bill was going to get us back to Oklahoma for a visit as soon as my mom's things were done, but we ended up driving back for another funeral instead. When I was 12, my mom finally talked to me about my dad. I used to sneak out a picture from a box she had and look at what I thought was his picture. That day, she pulled out the same picture, but opened the frame and my dad's picture was hidden behind it. So this is the first picture I ever saw of my dad until I was 41. Sure took a long time to find him, but I'm so glad I did. We had a lot in common including wanting land in Arizona to free range horses. That was kind of weird and shocking. So here's a the pic I treasured for decades of my daddy, Larry.

What a handsome guy! You look like him. I love it when you post these old pictures!!! They are so cool! It's great you found him in time to get to know him but that must have been so terrible to lose both parents so close together! I was a mess after losing my Mom and can't imagine having had to deal with losing my Dad too. He and I are super close. Always have been.

Hi Karen, I actually bought chicks from you last year, right now I have Marans, Silkies, 1 EE, 1 SL Wyandotte, and a freebie Aseel someone gave me. Unfortunately I live in town and have too many chickens already haha.

What a small world. Welcome Liz!

I would think it would work, except these are white crested. That would kind of throw things off.

Thanks Sunny! I loved my dad. He was so nice and so funny. And yeah it was hard to lose them 9 days apart. Bill took good care of me and said not to worry, he had it under control. Then I lose him. It was hard losing my parents, but I really lost it after Bill. He was my partner in crime.

OK I like the Cuckoos, but how about some Blue Cuckoos?? Actually I'd love just the blues. I really miss all of my Polish.
