Haha!!! Huel!!!! Watched an episode today that was one of his EARLY ones... oh my goodness he worked out back then!!! His arms were HUGE!!! I thought with the haircut he had the body of a marine! I haven't seen the marigolds episode yet.

That storm freaked our ladies out

their first rain!! The birdbrains kept standing IN the rain instead of under the coop (tons of space) or in the coop. With a handful of scratch grains, I got them back in the coop and taught them that it was dry inside... wet outside! Haha they caught on, thankfully!

Yah Huel....we love to hate him!

He does such interesting shows but he's so rude sometimes to people!

When I grew Marigolds they'd repopulate every where. I'm going to plant them again, they were also known for fly control and deer don't like them. When the flower dries you just spread the seeds. And yes, they feed the seeds from a specific line to chickens...can you imagine how light the commercial egg yolk would be?

I don't know, but I'm out in the county anyway. Good thing, because I think I'd have a bit more over the limit of 2 in the city. I think I have something on the order of 60, but I haven't counted in a while. I did count the turkeys today while I was moving babies, and I have 13 of those.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Turkeys? How cool! My friend tried hatching turkeys this year but only one made it. Poor little guy thinks he's a chicken.

My last two thought they were people. They were Broad-Breasted Bronzes, and the tom got too big to move easily. I still have the hen; she's a year and a half old. This new batch is from Porter's, Black Mottled and Royal Palms. they're growing up together, so they're pretty sure they're turkeys. Or at least poultry. I just moved them to the coop today, in a cage to keep the big birds from picking on them. Since they're heritage breeds, they should be able to reproduce naturally, the which my big ones could not. That tom as 53 pounds when we slaughtered him! These won't be as big. They have a lot of personality too.

Jules I don't know if you saw my post to you before, but if you still have the Marans x Game roo, can you post a pic for me?

Now. Does anyone know what I can put on bites from fire ants?

I dug up a 20 x 20 section of my yard for a garden and was half way through raking it out and get attacked. I can barely walk, my foot and toe are so swollen.

WOW! That's what I need when my kids and their families get together for the holidays. That and a much bigger oven.

Try making a paste out of water and baking soda & letting it dry on the bites.

I keep a tube of Hydrocortisone cream because mosquito bites welt up really bad on me. REALLY bad - I've gotten sick from 'squito bites.

But, until you can go pick up an inexpensive store brand tube of it, a quick dab of toothpaste will help. Honest! It has to be the "paste" though, not the gel type toothpaste.
