It's all good.Dee I already added you to the thread, so you'll have to come in and visit us. LOL Seriously. I post on the Nevada thread too. You are welcome to come hang out any time you want. Give me your area and I'll add it. And if you look at the first post, you'll see members from other states too. I know what you mean by just egg laying pets, but when you think about it, you can probably find chicks from a breed that's locale. Most breeders are working on health issues and not just a pretty beak. Hatchery birds tend to burn out on their egg laying at a younger age and many end up with other health issues, because they were bred to produce early with high egg production. Then again there are people who have been lucky enough to have their's live for a long time. Just something to concider. And thank you. Dakotah is my baby and when he comes out of hiding and explores, I always feel like there's hope for more. Yep, good ole Rick, don't seem so old. I'd become a groupy, but by the time I got home and rubbed Arnica into my wrist, I needed it for both knees and I only had one bad one, my back and ............what the heck did I do to my hip???
Dee checking the Ca site there is no listing for this hatchery so they must drop ship from out of state.....very common and not bad just figure they'll be hatchery stock small but they will look like BA's....hard to find breeders of good utility stock of any old breed....It's all good.Appreciate your warm hospitality wolftracks.![]()
Your hatchery bird evaluation does concur with my limited experience thus far to be sure. It seems my poor BRs are inferior quality in that regard. I have run up against my lack of knowledge as to how to find breeders of BA's in my area. Do they even exist? lol I have read on the WA thread but it does not sound like any are known at this time as several have already inquired about BA breeders in WA with no luck. It would be ideal to find someone in W.WA. Certainly I would be willing to make a day trip to pick up chicks if I could just find them. I appreciate learning more from you today. Thank you for your reply.

Quote: Your are correct, there is a lack of BA breeders currently. Your best bet would be to get hatching eggs from Karen(Sewandgrow) if she hast them. I think hers came from Bruce Sherman.
I knew you would get great advice here!

Hi Ron. Yes, the members in here are very helpful including yourself.Your are correct, there is a lack of BA breeders currently. Your best bet would be to get hatching eggs from Karen(Sewandgrow) if she hast them. I think hers came from Bruce Sherman.

I like your thoughts on the subject wolftracks. If Karen is at BYC I would enjoy hearing her thoughts on the subject whether she has eggs available for me or not. It is great to learn from experienced folks. That's who it was! Bruce Sherman! When I saw them they were beautiful birds. They were going to be show prospect for her grand daughter, but she's a busy girl, so I don't think she ever did it. But Karen like nice birds and knows a lot of people. I just think that even if the birds are going to be pets also, it's better to go through a breeder and not get hatchery chicks that aren't going to do as well. I'm sure if she still has them she would be willing to supply eggs. I have no idea what she asks for them. I do know that Karen is a sweetheart and I just love her and she's always willing to talk to people about her birds.
NOW! Did anyone notice my post about my new Lionhead doe?I feel so neglected!
She's laying here on the floor next to my feet. With all the blown coats and plucking for nests, this is the only one I have that still looks like a Lionhead. LOL Gonna check the next fair and see if I can find one or two more does and I should be good. Yeah right.![]()
