BIS for anything is an exciting experience. #50 a day??!!! So glad I have fewer and also much smaller breeds than those. LOL I did have a Giant Angora once, but just one. I couldn't imagine having that many to feed individually each day. That's commentment! Then again I only want about 4 or 5 hens for eggs once. Boy did that number explode. I did own 43 dogs once while I was showing and training. That was in my 20's, most since then was 12 to 17 depending on what breed I had. Then again they were always working breeds and I did go through a lot of expensive dog food! Too bad my dad and my husband died. We used to go back to Ponca City to visit my dad and we were close to Tulsa. Actually that was the airport we used. Wonder if my family that doesn't really know me well would hag out with me at a rabbit show? Or........Nationals are somewhere else now, aren't they? I can't remember where though. Chicago??Kim,
My son was huge into rabbits when he was in 4-H. We went to youth/open shows nearly every weekend through the entire show season each year. His herd ran around 250 rabbits most of the time (about 50# of feed per day). Including we traveled to the ARBA national convention each year. He showed several different breeds (Eng Lop, Giant Angora, Checker Giants, Californians, etc), but he was mostly known for his Tans (the judges used to refer to him as Tan Boy). His secondary breed were Brittania Petites. If you go back to the National Convention in Tulsa, OK in the early 90's (I think 92), he won Best in Show with a Tan. It was the first time a Tan had ever won the convention. It was pretty exciting.
I'm still friends with quite a few rabbit judges.
