The site isn't letting me post much and when it does I get garble for quotes, so hope this works. My list of breeds is on my BYC page. It's lond, but distinguisted. LOL My projects are my lavender egg layers. I also have several mixes, some OE, some EE and some that I'm not sure about. LOL OH and I have the cutest youngsters from an OEGB hen and a Partridge Silkie roo. They unusual, but kind of cool looking. But they go to the auction on Monday. Would be nice to make some feed money...RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIGGGHHTTT! Not with what I ever get, but there will be less to feed. I did sell a couple though yesterday. I didn't charge much, but every dollar helps. Shoulder has been really bothering me. I can't get anything done and I have so many 1/2 done things I'm about to scream. I just need it to stop long enough to get to things before it gets colder.

YAY! I went out for a cup of starter cause I have a hatch going on and hungry babies. Guess what I found in the nest box on the patio????? Go ahead! Guess!!!!

A lavender egg!!! I haven't seen one since I lost the one hen and this one is from a new layer!!!!!!!!!!!! It's lavender with some sploches of light brown!!! I have another one!! I'm so excited!!

Oh no....I was going to get rid of some of those. Now I have to see who's laying what.......Talk about a sudden drop! Now I have to keep them and feed them :(

Kim,

I've thought about your project. I have a JG pullet that lays the prettiest pink, pale purple egg. I know that it's her, she is my only JG (came in accidentally in another group of chicks). I have her living in a pen of white egg layers so there is no question that it's her. I was going to move her in with a blue egg chicken, Araucana, Ameraucana or maybe even the Cream Legbars and see what her chicks would produce with that blue underlay shell color and her pinkish overlay.

What the heck!

Am I the only one who can't use multi quote or the smilies or anything??? This is getting old.

Way ahead of ya. Been working on another small hoop coop today. Matter of fact I have 2 frames done, but my drill died on the last 2 screws. LOL I'll do the hoop sections tomorrow. I'm running out of area for coops, might fast.

Deb, use the roo from the bluest egg. If it has any green at all, it produces green. As far as I know Araucanas lay the bluest right? Try those first.

It is all working for me. PC using the latest version of Firefox.

Edited to add: Araucanas lay the bluest we can get. There is a South American Breed that the Araucanas came from that may lay a bluer egg. I do not know, but that breed may be gone now.

Does anyone here know the zoning laws out in Bear Valley Springs? Mom and I have found a house or two out there that have caught our attention but I am a bit confused... The agent website says that house a. is residential but the property is huge and even has a nice horse barn in the back. We're not horse people but it could also be used for other animals. I thought horses and other livestock are usually prohibited in residential zoning? From the description on the website "Lovely back patio area; center-aisle 4-stall barn w/tack & hay storage. Turnouts, round pen, pasture all fenced. Right on main horse trail. EZ access to eq center. Bring your picky horse owners who want a great location, close to everything. Beautiful sequoia trees, lawn - everything is done in this home to perfection." The property has some nice trees, good for turkeys to roost in

I'm not a horse person so I have no idea how horse friendly residential works.. Hopefully chicken friendly too? I'm sure people have chickens out there.
House b. is very luxurious on the inside, mom really likes that one, but the outside is crap compared to house a's land. House a. is cheaper too. I tried googling "bear valley springs livestock zoning" but I'm not finding answers or I'm not looking in the right places. A horse barn can be used for goats or piggies.. Hehe, I love both. I like piggies better. It could also be good during the winter for the birds because it does snow there.

Good News for you! Bear Valley Springs is not a City. It has an Association and this is what it says:

Since they are true Araucana and true Ameraucan, their eggs are true blue, with no hint of green. I don't really want to introduce the tufted/rumpless genes into my mix, even if they are recessive. They would just crop back up at some point. I also don't think I want to add the muff genes, that would just be a glorified EE.

These are all birds I hatched, so I saw the egg they each came out of. I think the Cream Legbars are the most intensely and pure blue I've seen. Beautiful birds, with a single comb. They also have the beautiful crele type pattern. So I think that's the way I'll go. Although those cockerels are still a littl young and just starting to eye the ladies around them.

Ron, you may be thinking of Colloncas. They do come up for sale on here everyone once in a while. There are a couple of people raising them. But you'd end up with most of the Araucana traits there.

The Cream Legbar eggs that I hatched were nice but not very large. They might have been pullet eggs though. The CLs do not do well in the heat and the Cockerel was very noisy. They now live with Chiquita in San Jose. The Bluest egg, bluer than the CLs, that I have from my hens, come from my Dorking x Buff Ameraucana EE that I hatched. She lays a very nicely shaped egg too.

Collonca might be the breed. It did start with a C. EO Basque are supposed to lay a pink to purple egg too sometimes. So far, all of mine have been brown. Purple eggs would be very cool.
