That might work Karen. One less too to feed. LOL
I've spent the last week introducing roos I've had separated by breed with my hens, to all the other roos. I have Just a couple more. I've always kept Clyde in his own space because he would take on everyone out there and it would just be a mess. Most of my younger birds are much bigger than him now. He got his butt kicked a couple of times by the FBCM hens more than any of the other roos. Now if I can just get Ziggy in the mix. He gets nuts when any of the others get near his girls, even through the wire. He's going to take some time, but that's ok. He'll get used to the others eventually. If it's not to cold out anf I don't have to run for someone, I may stay out there with himn tomorrow. I just don't like the idea of leaving them and taking a chance something happens.
Anyway I don't know why I hadn't done this before. I have such crumby accomadations of my babies and I need to start making it nicer out there. So once the boys all get used to eachother they're getting put into one penned area and the hens in another and then the smaller coops and pens for my bantams. Then I'm using the old spaces for pens for the rabbits and the quail will go in the wire layer cages. My poor quail. I lose those more than anything. My tarp is missing from their cages and I froze some of them last night. I'm just not doing well with my quail venture. I haven't really been working on my lighting yet either so need to do that too. I was going to process a bunch of quail roos, but I was watching my neighbors trying to catch their doves to cook for Thanksgiving. They raise them for the eggs. I asked if they'd like to have some of the quail to process, so the kids ran in and asked and came back out smiling with a box in hand. Said their mom was so happy she didn't have to use the doves. I keep doing that! I love quail and have yet to eat any since I got them. I've processed, but then same thing. They needed to eat and I gave them what I had. At least I didn't have to do the processing. Still a little wigged on that. Not the cleaning, but .......well you know.
