My granddaughter just got back from Afghanistan and will be home next Saturday. We're having a big family get together for her next Sunday. I've been asked to make all the deviled eggs I can, a macaroni and crab salad and two Robert Redford cakes. I'll be busy next week for sure and it's a two hour drive over there but well worth it. My grandson also just back from Afghan (brother to the granddaughter) will be home on leave the end of June sometime. Another party I'm sure.

Great reason for a party. Tell them we appreciate all they are doing for us.

Something about family and good food to welcome those troops! Congrats that you get yours home soon. My brother is in Afghanistan (for the 2nd deployment there) and leaves mid July!

There's nothing like hugging them when they return.

My daughter flew back to Georgia to meet her daughter when she came home. I'd have gone but tickets would be more than I could afford this year since we fly to NC in July to see the new great grandbaby and be there for my daughters graduation from medical training.

Hey fellow Californians! I just wanted to say that I will be traveling from the Monterey Bay area to the Sacramento area and back again Saturday June 22nd . If anyone needs/wants chicks/chickens/eggs transported I would be willing to help. I will also have some very handsome young roosters (Blue Copper & Blue Splash Marans) free to a good home and some straight run lavender/lavender split AM chicks for sale if anyone along that route is interested. Also, on Sunday July 7th I will be traveling to the South Lake Tahoe area if transport is needed then? I will return to the Monterey Bay area from that trip on July 10th. Just trying to help out, let me know if you're interested.

Hello from Riverside, I have 7 12 week old hens and 1 rooster. 1 1/2 ago I rescued 4 hens and a rooster age unknown but Sunday I started to receive gifts. 1 egg Sunday, 1 egg Monday, 2 eggs Tuesday and 4 eggs today Wednesday. The big rooster was really intimidating my young flock, so he is now in a 4x3 dog cage in the run. I hate to keep him locked up but what else can I do, they were hiding in the coop for most of the day.

These are only a couple days old. One more hatched...so I am up to 6 girls and a boy.

This is a VERY fun breed. They are great egg layers of med white eggs. Good cold layers and seem to be fine in the heat to. A smaller bird and very good at foraging on free range. And the best part, they are auto-sexing! 1 day old, and I know girls from boys! They are a little flighty, so not a good breed for kids. But great for a low maintance flock!
